Howard 538 Posted March 31, 2013 While many of us love to b-i-t-c-h about NJ and the crazy laws, we need to remember there are some beautiful parts to the state, and many sights to see. Many in the state have no clue that we have the second largest water falls east of the Mississippi here in NJ. They are called the Great Falls and are located in Paterson NJ just off of Route 80. I have been there many times, and stopped by on Friday to take some pictures, which I thought I would share. Well worth a visit.
blksheep 466 Posted March 31, 2013 Very nice pictures. And you are right we have some beautiful places in NJ.
Johnny 0 Posted March 31, 2013 I hear there are Pike in the water by the falls. Can any fisherman confirm that?
fishnut 2,358 Posted March 31, 2013 I hear there are Pike in the water by the falls. Can any fisherman confirm that? I have heard the same rumor I can not confirm though
RobertJames 14 Posted March 31, 2013 I've never been to Great Falls, but I've been to Buttermilk Falls plenty of times. I believe second highest in NJ behind Great Falls.
Howard 538 Posted March 31, 2013 I've been there as well, although there was no motor bike in my picture when I was there I think this is actually a longer distance down from top to bottom but it does not seem to be continuous, as the water looks like it is a bunch of separate falls stacked on top of each other. They are both impressive falls to see in-person.
RobertJames 14 Posted March 31, 2013 I tried to ride there today but it was gated off. Hopefully just closed for the season, but I wonder if there is storm damage left over from Sandy.
Barms 98 Posted March 31, 2013 You are an amazing photographer. What kind of camera?
Howard 538 Posted April 1, 2013 You are an amazing photographer. What kind of camera? Thanks, I try These were taken with my Nikon D800e DSLR with a Nikon 28-300VR lens. Its a great camera, the lens is good but not great, but is an excellent general purpose walk-around lens. If you are in the Wayne area you are very close and should definitely check out the falls. Adam 6 Posted April 1, 2013 The gates may be closed for a hunting season? I've been there since Sandy and had no issue..
JOdoubleE953 0 Posted April 1, 2013 Been by buttermilk falls when hiking the NJ Appalachian Trail straight thru. That particular section was a B^%$#@#$%, crazy steep elevation. And walking down to the falls was the only way for us to get water on that segment of the trip. fun stuff but very beautiful area
ryan_j 0 Posted April 1, 2013 NJ is beautiful, especially up here in Sussex County. But seriously, there are a lot of historic, architectural and natural wonders in this state. It's too bad that the filthy inner cities and their corrupt politicians are screwing up the whole state. It's a damn shame, really.
bhunted 887 Posted April 1, 2013 Whatever is in it, just don't eat it. I use to fish for carp in it... Occasionally some stray fish would find there way in... One way or another, it's still polluted. Plenty of sapping turtles too... I hear there are Pike in the water by the falls. Can any fisherman confirm that? Sent from John's iPad 2 via Tapatalk HD Typos courtesy Apple... Howard 538 Posted April 1, 2013 Now if you are not into that type of scenery, you can always go down to the Jersey Shore and see such strange sights as these:

Oh trust me I know the falls I was just complimenting your photography. Unfortunately I'm all too familiar with the Passaic river and the falls.
