NJAlex 0 Posted June 21, 2013 Happy to finally get the chance to clean my first pistol in preparation for going to range 14 this weekend to break it in. It's a Smith and Wesson M&P 9 mm. Only could get it with 10 round magazines but was able to find 2 extra so I have 4 total. Very excited to try it out.
Krdshrk 3,877 Posted June 21, 2013 Nice. See how the stock trigger is. Then try a M&P with an Apex or Burwell trigger job

nitrospaz9 10 Posted June 21, 2013 Wanna come clean all mine? Lol. Still haven't cleaned my 4 HG's and one rifle could use a scrubbing
Nickel1911 0 Posted June 21, 2013 Good choice. M&p9 was my first too. Still one of my favorites. Keep her happy with some good ammo and regular maintenance and she'll always treat you right
Bbott 1 Posted June 21, 2013 Congrats. M&P9 was my first also. Have fun!

9X19 125 Posted July 7, 2013 I always felt that the stock trigger wss fine on the M&P 9, but then again at the time I owned one, I also had a couple of Glocks.
acaixguard 37 Posted July 7, 2013 I always felt that the stock trigger wss fine on the M&P 9, but then again at the time I owned one, I also had a couple of Glocks. Out of the box, the M&P trigger is typically worse than a Glock's.
High Exposure 5,664 Posted July 7, 2013 I wouldn't say worse, just different. If you are used to, and like, Glock triggers, especially the heavy tactile reset they have, then you will not like the M&P. The APEX kit was designed to give the M&P a more "Glock-like" feel, not necessarily because they have terrible triggers, but because their reset point was very subtle. That said, I did have the APEX DCAEK kit in my M&P45 before I sold it. I shot fine either way, but I was trying to make it feel more like my Glock. I figured if it felt similar, I would shoot it more and it would not alter my abilities with my mandated duty gun. The Apex Kit made the trigger more Glock like, but in totality it was still different enough that if I spent a range day on the M&P I would need to spen 2 range days getting back up to speed with my Glocks. So the M&P got sold and I bought a second G35. The Apex kit is nice, but not necessary.
blksheep 466 Posted July 7, 2013 We have the same issues. Not a very positive reset at all and really driving the gun can be a PIA not feeling the reset.. Not like my HK or GLOCKs. Its a great feeling gun but that needs a little work.
acaixguard 37 Posted July 8, 2013 The newer M&Ps have a more positive reset. Not quite as strong as a Glock or PPQ, but much closer than before. However, the trigger break was noticeably heavier than a stock Glock.
