If the revolutionary war was started over taxation...

Recommended Posts

... With no represtation, then why do so many people feel that there wont be another revolution given the fact that we are taxed out the wazoo, and by people who really dont "represent" us. They represent there interests. And a slew of other problems that are never addressed, instead are just swept under the rug, on top of all the liberty stripping laws that are being made on a monthly bases. I heard somewhere the colonists started the war after a 3% tax was instated, we are up around 30% tax over all we need a hot damn revolution this is ridiculous.

Your Taxation point is a little off.  Taxes were instated from the "mother land", hence the no taxation with out representation... and the money was more or less being sent back over the Atlantic. Think of it like a country which starts to strip resources from another, at some point the people are going to realize there being duped, taxes are supposed to be a re-investment. I'm not much of a history buff so my point isn't 100% accurate, but today the tax situation is MUCH different. We have representatives controlling taxes, from the local state and federal level, and the money they collect stays here more or less. Back then it was much different in terms of who decided what and how much was taxed, and where the money went. The issue wasn't the high taxes. I don't mind paying taxes when i see that we benefit from it, back then no one here benefited from taxes..

Because despite that, most people are still more comfortable than not. If that were not trending badly, nobody would be asking. When resisting them costs less than permitting the status quo to continue, people will get rowdy.

The PTB (politicians/bankers/Fed) know how to keep us just comfortable enough while still suppressing us, taking our money, and eroding our rights. However, if the economy keeps diving, who knows? All it could take is another couple natural disaters or an overseas failure of the dollar...

We have plenty of representation.  We also get the representation we deserve.  The nation holds the key to making any changes it sees fit -- the voting booth.

Judging the results...  who do we have to blame?  Most of the electorate seem only interested in reality TV.

Seems I make new enemies every week with my views on the current state of the USA.

They seem to be running out of economic policy to avoid issues. The truth of your statement will come down to how married they are to Keynesian economic theory, how correct that theory is, and if they decide to swerve at the last minute, how fast they can come up with a new idea.

All signs point to reality parting ways with the predicted behavior of the Keynesian model even after having applied copious quantities of printed money in the right places. They appear to be pulling back. Are they clever enough to have a new plan.

Yeah we have plenty of representation, but they really only represent themselves and those who line their pockets. The problem as I see it is that waste, fraud, and abuse is systemic. It is embedded, and it can't be voted out, even if we systematically vote out all incumbents, because challengers are already connected. Even if a naive idealistic noob is voted in, they are soon corrupted.

Politicians should get a $20.000 base salary and thats it !!! No pension, no special health care , and the same social security check that a normal citizen would get. Their should be no lobbyist and all politicians aides should be non paid interns. And political  corruption should be punishable by death. POLITICS SHOULD BE A PASSION, NOT A CAREER.   OH YEAH... TERM LIMITS  ONE AND YOUR DONE.

This is what I'm predicting will "save us", ironically.
