USPSA Approves 8-Shot Revolvers

Recommended Posts

They can use any mags they can LEGALLY own, as long as they only put 15 rd in them.

Wasnt sure on the rule there.  In SS, you cant use a 10 rd mag (unless 9mm) and only load 8 because of mag length.  Dont know if the wording of the rule change means "max" or "loaded to max limit"

Think of it as production. In production you can use a 15rd mag as long as you only load 10 in it.  In open and limited there are still length limits but in addition there are now capacity limits.

no problem, happy to help. here is another one

It can be won with only one shot if you are fast enough

Thats awesome, except I'm not sure it is USPSA legal. I can't recommend the RO course strongly enough for anyone who really wants to understand more about the game they are shooting. Would like me to keep you in mind next time a class is announced?

Edited: .. you know it might be legal. You should TOTALLY build that stage at the next match and ask the rest of your fellow competitors how the liked it.

If you want to build it ( and provide a couple of disappearing targets I'm not sure we have enough) then by all means I'll gladly read your name as the stage designer at the beginning of the match, as I do for everyone.

We do not have enough disappearing targets.

Do you have 4 poppers and a swinger.. the trick is to hit P4 last, do the reload before the swinger comes out

I made this one professional.

I actually kind of like this one. Although I'll have to check it against the requirements for a standards stage.

The other issue is it is short. You have to stick it in a pit with something else or run all short stages.

It took longer to upload this then draw it, so I am not going to go back and add the rest

standard start, box is part of the FFZ, targets can be arranged so there are no shoot thrus.  the back left target is blocked by the wall and not visible from the start

I have no friends

I added some no shoots, moved the left side targets out, and made the box not FFZ because otherwise there's no reason for a box.

Better start hitting gun broker before the rush to buy really hits.

I just put a downpayment down on a 627 to build for 8 shot minor, might as well jump on the band wagon and be prepared, never know - maybe i'll like it.

As the wheel turns...

Soon you will wonder if you like 8 rd better then 6rd, maybe you will like 10rd better then 8rd and you will discover that there all these other divisions designed for a class of firearm that is only 100 years old as opposed to 150 years old.

    • We never let then inside.  Last re-evaluation was 6-7 years ago, wife politely told him that he was welcome to look around the property and he could look in the windows. He saw two white resin chairs in the basement and told her that this constituted a finished basement. And everything in the basement is bare concrete/ cinder block, and mechanical systems. Nothing finished about it. Ultimately he relented and I'm sure that was a ploy to coerce us to allow him in
    • I use an Alien Gear cloak tuck (IWB) with my Shield.  Neoprene back - in the summer it does feel warm but doesn't rub or chafe.   https://aliengearholsters.com/ruger-lcp-iwb-holster.html Could also go with the shapeshift as it has multiple options - OWB/IWB, Appendix... https://aliengearholsters.com/ruger-lcp-shapeshift-modular-holster-system.html
    • The  12-1 compression ratio L88 is long gone. This is GM's updated version. it might be  pump gas 10-1 engine The L88 was a aluminum head  cast iron block engine with a nasty solid lifter cam. the  ZL1 was a all aluminum  12 or 13-1 compression ratio engine with the best forged internal parts at the time and had a even nastier solid lifter cam
    • I like my regular carry holster.  OWB leather with belt slots.  I've been carrying for over a year and it was comfortable and I hardly even noticed it.  I carry (usually) a Ruger LCP .380 - light, convenient, tiny. But...today I ended up taking it off an leaving it home after a few hours. I cut down a big maple tree a few days ago and I spent 3/4 of today loading and unloading firewood into the back of my truck and a trailer.  It was a warm day, I was dirty, tired, sweaty, and my holster was rubbing against my side.  The leather and exposed metal snap was no longer comfortable. I'm thinking about adding a layer of something to that part of the holster to soften the contact.  Anything insulating will make it worse.  I don't want a sweaty, hotter holster against my skin.  I'm imagining something thin, breathable, that won't absorb sweat, and softer than leather, metal snaps, and rivets.   But I have no idea what would work. I'm hoping somebody else has already figured this out and I can just do what they did. Any suggestions appreciated.
    • Check the primers on the ammo you didn't shoot yet. Are they fully seated? If the primer is not just below flush with the back of the case, the first hit can seat it better then the second hit ignites it.
