NICS Delays

So since the NICS section is closed maybe it's okay to ask here. How long is NICS backed up? I haven't had a NICS check since the disaster that lasted from December through nearly all of summer and was wondering if it only backed up yesterday and today and if anybody's heard back yet?

If the NICS unit is open (during their normal working hours) the delay should be approx 10 minutes.............

Was yours phoned in or faxed in?  5 hours ago would be lunch time on Black Friday, on a day when I'm sure some of the NICS checkers took off.  Not surprised it would take a bit longer, all things considered, but that seems excessive.  Maybe the gun shop misplaced your number?

When I got mine from dicks on BF they had so many due to sales, they got backed up @ dicks and takes time to submit them

Burlington Dick's mentioned someone just started inputting all sales from last night into the system this morning and they don't expect to get approvals back by tomorrow or Monday.  Which I was kinda expecting this will be the case.  I don't mind the wait, we pay when we pick it up anyways.  Just glad the one I wanted was still in stock and got a banging deal as well.

Mine had to be paid for upfront, but I don't see what makes the difference.  I thought NICS couldn't handle the volume again, but I guess it's just Dick's. Hopefully last years problems don't resurface as I've got five more permits to burn.

Nics is still working on echecks from 10am this morning. they will have then done by 10am tomorrow

at about 4:30 it was about 15 min, salesman was on hold for about 12mins waiting for someone to be available at nics.

Was at OMG Guns this morning for a long gun pickup , NiCS took 10 min at 10:15 AM .
