If i wanted to go to the oaks gun show this weekend, sling my rifle over my shoulder and stick a "for sale" flag in the barrel, can i do that being an NJ resident? Would a COE be required? Are there any other paperwork requirements?

you would have to use a FFL to do the transfer in order to sell to anyone since you are out of NJ and selling to out of state residents.

Agree with ogfarmer on that...couple possibilities...make your rounds first thing touch base with the vendors selling guns as to whether they would be interested in doing the transfer(for a fee of course) ....

 

or contact actual brick and mortar gun shops nearby and ask if they'd be willing to do the transfer if you found a buyer then go to their shop together to complete transaction .....

 

Lastly.....if a potential buyer were by chance from nj...there are a lot that attend...would it be legal to just to a normal f2f transaction with Coe and usual fid/dl as both are nj residents even though in pa?....that I don't know...

 

.if so that might be your niche ....I'd play it up and be sure to add "nj compliant rifle/nj seller"t to your flag) as a lot of nj buyers attending...few (in my experience) nj compliant rifles..aside from hunting shotties/rifles/antiques

I'd be selling a bolt action, so the nj compliant angle wouldn't work. Thanks for the info guys, i appreciate it.
