jds560 0 Posted April 30, 2014 With my two remaining permits I can't decide what to do. The choices are the S&W 39-2, HK USP in 9mm or 45, and the Walther P99 in 9mm. Ideally I'd like to buy them all, but the city of Newark is very picky about who they'll give more than 3 permits a year to.
tj462nj 32 Posted April 30, 2014 I'd go for the 39-2, the other 2 choices are still in production & you can get at a later time
jds560 0 Posted April 30, 2014 Is the P99 really still in production? I thought it was 86'd when the PPQ came out. I don't like the spiderweb like grips on the PPQ or the HK P30/45 so I'm avoiding the later types.
tj462nj 32 Posted April 30, 2014 yes, the P99 is in production

Don't they have to follow state law????
jds560 0 Posted April 30, 2014 it looks "suspicious" when someone comes in for three permits every few months. So to say.
Howard 538 Posted April 30, 2014 it looks "suspicious" when someone comes in for three permits every few months. So to say. Really? I get four every five months or so and they are very happy to see me and its never an issue.
magnawing 5 Posted April 30, 2014 I checked out a Titanium Cerakote TriStar T120 yesterday (9mm CZ 75 clone) and I think I know where my next permit is going... This signature is AWESOME!!!
DTtuner 21 Posted April 30, 2014 Sorry, but asking strangers on the internet what pistol you like... is like asking them what underwear you should buy.

jds560 0 Posted May 1, 2014 I know it wasn't one of my suggestions, but I ran into a Colt Anaconda for $700. I have to go check it out again, not sure if it was an 8" or a 6". Is this worth the quid? It was used, in decent shape. One spot of rust? Stainless, I guess I could brillo it off. Not sure how to clean that stuff on stainless.

Bully 749 Posted May 1, 2014 who had that. Tell him where it WAS, not where it IS... Yes, the Anaconda is worth the money if you can feed it. I had a little rust on mine as well. I let it sit with some WD-40 and then wiped it clean with a soft paper towel. Do NOT use an abrasive on it. Just my dos centavos. C
Polak 3 Posted May 5, 2014 Wow...I am waiting on 14 permits. Fugg Newark...contact somebody about that. I vote the Smith and the hk Newark always "loses" paperwork whether you're OTJ or not.
jds560 0 Posted May 5, 2014 I think I might get the Taurus M85 snub or a S&W model 37. I already have a 586. it'd be nice to have a small model. I'm really open

jds560 0 Posted May 5, 2014 That gun doesn't have a hammer on it does it? I like hammers on revolvers. I could get a used Model 37 for around $400 I believe.
BlueLineFish 615 Posted May 5, 2014 No hammer. Sealed hammerless revolver with an attached laser. Lightweight and accurate.

BlueLineFish 615 Posted May 5, 2014 Gee..can't imagine what they would think of me
bry@n 195 Posted May 5, 2014 I'd never live in Newark to begin with so.... But hypothetically, I'd have some fun with that. I get permits every 5 months like clock work. If they used the word suspicious, I think I'd ask for like 20 permits every time just to see their heads spin. It would be worth the extra $$ to blow on the permits.
BlueLineFish 615 Posted May 5, 2014 I would submit permit paperwork every month
david8613 69 Posted May 8, 2014 i Hear Newark is tough to get permits, I'm told you can never reach the detective that handles forms to fill out!
DeerSlayer 241 Posted May 8, 2014 I'm at my police department every 3 months. The lady at the window and I are on a first name basis now. Yes I have the same disease as BLF. The only thing that has slowed me down is the OGAM. I have a feeling my wife supports that law . Good thing I'm a Plumber and everyone needs me, money is a must for my addiction to firearms.
