Dropped off paper work for a pistol permit with Nj state police  on 4/23/14 . I told the trooper the last time it took 5 months and he said not anymore more like 2 months now, so 3 months go by and nothing. I  called and insisted to speak to the firearms sgt. Told him you didn't even call my references for 2 months after I dropped off my paperwork. He said Im busy "the last thing I care about is the gun permits".  When I get free time I do them , "thats just the way it is".This is the same guy that told me " the new state law only allows 3 permits at any given time "  I told him he's absolutely wrong and he said if I apply for more than 3 I would get denied. What a f****** joke these little people are. Nothing but glorified pick pockets getting paid to do this bs and then retire at 48. This state is a joke

If it's too much of a bother for them to get to gun permits, then they should abolish the system that requires them.  That would make their lives, and ours,

a whole heck of a lot easier.

I posted this before but Bridgeton Barracks was 42 days last time and the trooper handling firearms always calls back and has real answers about where the permits are in the process. 

 

There is no reason it takes 5 months now that the rush is over and the attitude is unacceptable.  I'd call the station commander.  The NJSP doesn't want the reputation as being uncooperative with citizens.  I think a call to the station commander will get this resolved.

He really didn't have any attitude just stating facts. Some facts he made up ,and some he didn't . He got out my paper work and told me when it was sent to Trenton and told me its out of his hands. Also said he thought i would have it the first 2 weeks of August.

BS!  I got my permits from NJSP 3 months ago in 42 days!  I ended up doing an extension a couple of weeks ago that went to Trenton and back and in my hands in 10 days.  All barracks use the same Trenton and my Trenton turns things around pretty fast.  The trooper I deal with even called Trenton for me once when the delays were long to find out who's desk I was on and how far down in the pile.  They have the option to be polite and helpful.

I hate to say answer a threat with a threat but like it was said above your already in the crapper.

 

Next time you talk to him ask him about how what grounds he would deny you for asking for mutiple permits since that's not the law? "What would you do make up something false on my application?" And then see what he says. Or you could even get real nasty and say "I'm recording this conversation... Tell me again why I can't apply for three?"

 

I cringe when i have to move and go to a bad town someday.

Just call back and "Politely" ask to speak to the Captain of the barracks.

Explain your situation and your position, and (again politely) explain that

by law, the state has 30 days to approve or deny (and denial requires an explanation)

your permits.

I STRONGLY suggest you be very professional, and explain that you understand that there can be

delays, but a trooper has no right to tell you "The last thing he cars about are your permits"

 

If you get nowhere, contact the Firearms Investigation Unit (FIU) at the NJSP - explain your situation

and ask to speak to one of the Detectives regarding your rights - this has worked in the past.
