Florida Non-Res CCW mistake?

Recommended Posts

So I just checked on my application for FL and it said that my license has been approved & shipped out. Now my question is that on the website where you check your status, my last name is spelled wrong.

Does that mean on my license it will also be spelled wrong? Since I'm pretty sure they get your name from your application. Spelled it right on the application though but If they got it wrong on the status update, probably have it wrong on the final ID too.

It'll probably be wrong so you'll have to call them once you get the license. Fixing a spelling mistake should be relatively painless.

Yeah that's where I checked it and it showed the spelling mistake aka Applicant Name - XXXXX(O). Should be a D where O is. Should I wait for the license to come in and then call them or call them tomorrow and check if they issued the right name but misspelled it online.

Yes, when you receive your license, do a live chat with them on the DOACS webstie.  They'll have to replace it if it's wrong on both the license and the system.  Do you have a copy of what you sent in to them?  Just so they can't say, "Well, that's what you put on your papers,"  when you know absolutely you didn't.

No, I don't believe I have a copy of what I sent. I also did it through Gun For Hire so if they gave me an extra copy to keep in the folder they handed me after the class was over, then yes I will. I mean my name is also on the mail I sent them, the money order & the application. 2 people went over my application at GFH (matching DL info to document info) and if they didn't state anything wrong pertaining to my personal info then idk how Florida got it wrong. I will call them tomorrow & check!

Very simple.  Someone at DOACS had to type it into their system from the papers you submitted. That's probably where the error was made. But they won't admit to that error unless you can prove it to them. And they won't have those other docs in front of them when you call. They'll only have what's on the system, and that's what they go by. After all, the system is never wrong, is it?  <sarcasm>  :D

Always make a copy of everything you submit to them. If you do it on-line, do a Alt-PrtScrn and take a screenshot of it before you submit it.  There's no denying that.

Bureaucracy at its best.....  :dontknow:

I'd call, they may be able to get it corrected and out quickly. Florida is pretty good on this stuff.
