First, let me state that I'm NOT one of those people that got up in the wee hours of the morning to watch Charles & Di get married, and frankly?... I didn't do that for William and Kate, or for Harry and Meghan. As an American, what can I say?... I just have no great love for (or obsession with) monarchies in general. It strikes me as a ridiculous and antiquated system. But hey, it's their tradition, not ours... each to their own. All that said, I won't lie... I was very sad to hear this latest news. The princess - just as a person - comes across as beautiful, grounded, poised, and classy. She has also been delightfully free of major scandals. In fact, I have often gotten a kick out of how "Kate the Commoner" has behaved (IMO) with more elegance and grace than some of the "Royals" in the family she married into. I also can't help but strip the issue of royalty away for a moment... and look at it through the simple lens of humanity... enough to realize what a tough break it is for ANY family to have TWO members battling cancer at the same time. Ugh. Nightmare! Damn, I hate the scourge of cancer! It takes too many people - including in my own circle. I give best wishes to ANYONE facing a cancer diagnosis, but I do think her situation is one of those particularly poignant ones for multiple reasons... because she (again, agree with the concept of royalty or not) is a beloved role model to so many around the world... because the press is going to continue to hound the living daylights out of her... because she's the mom to 3 young children... and because her husband, who lost his own mother when she was far too young, shouldn't have to experience a similar fate with his own wife. I really hope her treatment is successful and she is soon deemed cancer-free!

As a person going through this myself, I hate to see it happen to anyone. Although I don't think anyone's battle is more important than the next person's. Everyone has a family and loved ones who worry about them. It's very personal to the people going through it and to plaster her all over the news isn't doing her or her family any good. If they were really concerned about her, they would leave her and her family alone and let them deal with it privately.

Disclaimer: I re-watched "The Patriot" last night. As much as I hate Mel Gibson, the theme of the movie resonated with me, especially reflecting on where this country is today. F*** CANER!!! I've lost too many relatives to the various forms of the disease. It's a friggin' nightmare for those battling it and those that have to watch their loved ones go through the battle, receive treatment and hopefully recover. Hell, I had one of my Cub Scouts battle it during the 'Rona. That was an extremely tough time for their family. Thankfully, their friends, neighbors and loved ones (for the most part) stepped up to assist in any way that they could. (Not tooting, ever, my own horn, but I had may late nights and early mornings assisting in support of the family.) I wish her, as a person, a wife and a mother, the best in her battle.

    Hmmmm… in 2023 shootings in NJ dropped below 1000 - that’s around a 30% decrease… I wonder if there is a correlation.

They do if you're using cat rounds.

Da yah think? LOL So much for Murphy's and Platkin's "blood in the streets if we allow carry permits." Permits up 5,000%, shootings down 30%. Let's go for 100,000 permits! Thanks for noting that @High Exposure I may have to join you there Emma!

Yes exactly - it’s a chunk of dumb lead and copper, not a not a GBU from an F-15. The laser dot only predetermines the impact of your bullet if you execute all of the rest of your shooting fundamentals perfectly. The best are the shooters who think a laser can replace a white light for low light defensive shooting since they don’t need to “see their sights“ anymore.

And you know this because...? I know what I know as I worked on the border for over 2.years and have worked there tdy several times since. OTOH, there is little reason for aliens to smuggle a gun. Reasons? 1. They know if they get caught with a gun by USBP they'll be in trouble. No gun? I can tell them any name I want and walk right in 2. They are coming from countries where guns are very difficult or impossible to obtain. 3. Those so interested know they can obtain a firearm easily off.the street.

Unfortunately most people don't think like that (present company excluded). People just think high tech, lasers,= better. I'll bet in if you ask most people with, say, grip lasers, how they calibrate or sight them in, your just going to get a blank stare. They just assume the bullet is going to follow the dot

I agree with your assessment. Without a lot of training, pistol lasers just aren’t worth it. If the laser is mounted at 6 o'clock to the barrel and you can see the laser dot above your sights at some distance, you have a converging zero at whatever distance your laser dot, sights, and bullet impact meet. As you increase that distance the laser dot will rise higher above your front sight. As you decrease that distance, the laser dot will fall under your barrel. For parallel, imagine a second laser replacing your sighting system. From your muzzle to infinity, the distance between those two beams will never change.

This story is a reminder of two basic tenets of life:: 1) You generally only get what you pay for. and 2) Life is too short to deal with people who come across as assholes ... they usually are!

If I identify as an Unducumented (Illegal) Migrant, than I can carry anywhere, anytime, all the time, without any worry?

I went thru a short phase of a laser on a few handguns. In the end decided to opt out. I had difficulty seeing the dot and for self defense, wasn't for me. Realized I was spending(wasting) too much time finding the dot vs focusing on the target/situation. Precious moments in a volatile situation. Aim and shoot- not aim,, look look shoot. Didn't bother with a zero as, to me, a targeted threat would be too close to make a difference altho they were sited in to impact an inch or two above the dot- parallel method? They were mounted front of trigger guard. Make more sense on a long gun to me.

Good article, i hope it gets traction and is shared. Moreover i am glad he and his family are ok and it did not go downhill.

Pricey looking.. Sometimes being one of the economically disadvantaged helps.. Burglars would look at my house and say; sheese,..that guy has enough problems and move on to better pickings.

I'll second this. If you're considering a PA permit and you're anywhere CLOSE to Pike Co, it's well worth the drive.

While it's true granting resident LTCFs in PA is almost universal, legally it is still at the sheriff's discretion, and procedures vary from county to county. My wife and I applied for our resident permits, and received them by mail exactly two weeks later.
