  1. From Shotgunworld: On the Ruger Red Label the conversion is very easy for the user to perform. With the barrel off the ejector/extractor rods unhood and reveal a spring with a guide, an end cap with pin. To convert to extraction only just take one of the springs to your local hardware store and pick up a same or longer lenght spring of the same diameter, but of a lighter gauge wire. You may have to snip the end to shorten and then strech the new spring to the desired tension to just push the fired cases out to the desired length. The installation is the opposite of the removal. It's easier than it sounds and just takes a minute to switch between the new and old springs to go back to ejection when it is desired.
  2. High power match with a M1 Garand, priceless. Learn to use iron sights. Once mastered, everything else is easy!
  3. Full size 40 gallon HW heater will have a 240 volt 30 amp circuit. Only one element will run at a time so somewhere around 4500-5400 watts when running. The top element will heat the water to start and the bottom element is for maintaining temperature. Your generator would need to supply 240 volts at 20 amps minimum. That will eat up most all output from medium sized portable generators if the could handle it at all. How long will the water stay warm will depend on what the temperature is set for to begin with and what type insulation it has. Common averaged price WH do not have very good insulation. The average 40 gallon electric water heater will take an hour to an hour and a half to raise the temperature of the water 60 degrees. So how hot the water is at that time depends on the temperature of the water coming in. Most well water is in the mid 50s. When on a portable generator for backup most homeowners forgo using certain appliances as the electrical and fuel cost outweigh their benefit. If you have hot water baseboard heating, most add a zone and use it for domestic hot water by using a WH built for that purpose. Not cheap to install but over time cheaper than electric to heat hot water.
  4. No surprises there. Always ask here, first!
  5. Well, those days will be ending. I'm in with Nickjc. The best ammo I ever shot was the ammo I loaded. I will never be caught short again.
  6. Stock up now on 22LR, long range market predictions show metals, (lead, zinc, and copper) all rising in the next couple of months. Not to mention NJ predicted to get a case of Murphyitis sometime early 2018. Saw 1,400 round tubs priced lower somewhere also. Cannot remember at the moment. #IWNC
  7. Using both ESS and Revision Sawfly Kits. Picked them up in a Government Action years ago for like $25.00 a kit new. Haven't seen them since on Government Liquidations. Prefer the Sawfly, though.
  8. No problems with Bud's, but not the best. Make sure your local FFL will accept and the fees. Some do not like Bud's for some reason.
  9. OK is your 66 block a A, B, or M? Four posts makes it a M. A or B blocks have six posts. On M blocks post 1 and 2 are common, 3 and 4 are common. That is why you may see the metal clip on posts 2 and 3, they are carrying the conductor onto post 3 and 4. On a B block (have not seen an A for centuries) all six posts on a row are common. So wiring depends on how the tech wired it. A lot of techs would bury unneeded conductors by wrapping them around the sheath or cut them off. Now for the wiring, old wire had four conductors red, green, yellow, black. Modern CAT wiring has 8 conductors. Now this is where people get confused. Each pair of conductors are bundled into groups of 25. There are two colors on each conductor, There are five conductors with the same repeating Primary base color, and five with the same Secondary colors. See the page below. http://www.homephonewiring.com/clr-code.html Now POTS (plain old telephone service) takes two conductors and comes in on the first pair of newer multipair cable. WHITE/BLUE, BLUE/WHITE or on old 4 conductor cable, GREEN and RED. To terminate this to and RJ jack the BLUE/WHITE goes on post 4 and the WHITE/BLUE on post 5. Yes it's backwards. See this page below, http://www.lanshack.com/wire_phone_jack.aspx Hope that helps decipher you wiring. Just be aware after years installed, if any trouble tickets were related to wring problems the tech would have used whatever wire he had to correct and broken wires, etc, Best to follow and document each before changing anything. I have seen cables start as one set of colors on one end and come out a different on the other. Hope this helps. LMK if you still have problems. I know it's clear as mud, but take each sections and mull it over and the light will come on, trust me!
  10. Model 10207 is the standard NJ compliant model and model 11507 is the NJ compliant model from their Performance Center line. MSRP $449 and $709. Where to get? Not a clue whose stocking. FYI, TonyJ has one for sale on this board, look him up.
  11. Thankx for the complement. Looking forward to having a good time. In fact 8 of us are looking to go hog hunting early and are looking into renting a house on the waterfront at Lake Okeechobee. Might as well make the most of it. Report to follow!
  12. "Snakes, why did it have to be snakes?" "Asps, very dangerous. You go first!" WTF? face look, priceless!
  13. I guess the question I have for them is what involvement do they have in the P2P and FID process if any, and why does it take the individual barracks so long to process the P2P and FID paperwork.
  14. Hard to tell from picture. If the head is not shaped like a triangle and the eyes are round not oblong with peaked ends like a cat's eye, and there are not noticeable "pits" on the nose, it mostly likely is non-poisonous. My guess based on the picture is it is just a normal brown ground snake, Quite common around here.
  15. Thankx, I drank to much at the Fireman's Picnic yesterday so it looks good to me!
  16. There is a collar on the receiver used to adjust the tension of the barrel to the receiver. You need to turn the collar to achieve a solid lockup. Most who complain about this have not done it properly if at all. There are adjustment screws to realign the collar if the normal adjustment is out of spec. I have three of these TDs and all are very accurate. One has been heavily modified with an aftermarket barrel and is a tack driver out to 75 yards. Tanner's sold out the the Kryptek Typhons a while ago. They were offered OTD for $252.00. Their next batch was a different pattern but had a threaded barrel and flash hider so they were not offered to NJ residents they were priced at $269.00+. Is this batch threaded? Just curious.
  17. 400 OTD? You my friend have a quality old school rifle at cheap new rifle price. Enjoy! A little Birchwood Casey Stock Sheen and Conditioner followed by a good buffing of Gun Stock Wax and it will look showroom new!
  18. Midsouth Shooters Supply up to 17% off sale until Monday 08/21 1:00PM EDT worth a visit I would believe.
  19. Faster twist with lighter bullets is a no-no in the 223 platform. My heavy barrel is 1;9 as I shoot only 50-68 grains in it. Actually changing from 68 BTHP w/Varget to 52 BTHP with TAC.
  20. Thumbrest grips as Bullseye is strong hand only. Lose the dot, learn to shoot with iron sights, you'll thank me later. You may want to invest in blinders and other eye optics, but I would learn the basics and then decide what upgrades you would want. Once you learn to shoot with irons, the rest becomes easy. Concentrate on the front sight and you we be amazed at how fast your scores improve.

    Best side saddle

Mesa now has a polymer side saddle in addition to the extruded aluminum one. Not having a problem with mine, just seems to work OK
  22. Join the NJ Powder, Primers and Brass Reloading Group over on Facebook. It's a closed group be easy to supply info to get in, Another sounding board for reloaders.
  23. Thanks for the encouragement. They now have rooms right on the property built looking like an old west town. Biggest problem? I have to pack seven guns to go if I want to participate in all the events or rent them, yuch. Ammo will be shipped ahead of time to other contacts.
  24. I like the sign, "No Photo or Video" . Just that image "burned" in your brain for the day!
