  1. Holy hand grenade of Antioch, do NOT try to fire these pot metal trophies. Here are my twin five-shooters. The top is a Forehand Arms, seems to work and I got it for $95. The bottom gun is a Hopkins & Allen and the trigger return spring is missing. These were likely made in the same Connecticut factory. I scoured Numrich but have not yet found the proper spring to make a repair. These shoot Smith & Wesson 32 Short Blackpowder loads. I found old advertisement that touted "flawless operation through 937 rounds of smokeless powder test firing." There were a lot less lawyers in advertising back then so we can only suspect what happened on the 938th round! Even thought I went through the effort of sourcing proper blackpowder ammo, I don't have the guts to try to blow up the only thing I have from my grandmothers (the broken gun was hers and, yes, there is a story). I'd love to meet up at Cherry Ridge to put all of these side by side. https://www.buffaloarms.com/32-s-w-short-black-powder-ammo-311-90-grain-lead-fn-box-of-50-amobp32sws
  2. This guy put a loaded gun into her hands and asked her to marry him? He better know the answer ahead of time!
  3. I’d think you could 1- dry fire, 2- hold the trigger 3- with trigger still held, cycle action via charging handle 4- release charging handle 5- release trigger. That shouod allow you to simulate live fire operations.
  4. This is my town. The closed town Facebook page was a BLAZE last night with many coming out of the woodwork, including myself. Itwas also a solid reminder of the old adage, “all politics are local”.
  5. I have until April to figure this out but I'm inclined to get a chest freezer an use milk crates inside for organization. We have young kids and are always preparing meals, so that would do double duty for us.
  6. I’d love to see a safety class taught in schools, the same way drivers ed is offered. Taking the class doesn’t mandate that you buy a car or gun, but at least you’d have a head start of knowing what to do if you find one in an emergency situation. Similarly, at least you’d know enough that if you happen upon one that you don’t do something that would create an emergency situation. JMHO.
  7. This is overboard but I wanted to tinker with something and ended up making these two cases. Keeps things low profile.
  8. I'm signed up for a hog hunt and if all goes well, I'll have bacon for days. I'm trying to learn about getting a freezer for storing the meat. I've seen different ones for sale from 3 cu.ft chests to 18 cu.ft uprights but don't know how much space is typical for butchered animal. What size and type freezer does everyone have and how did you ?
  9. In fact, that’s exactly what I paid. It’s a nicely kept 1975 model. The earlier “3 screw” model fetch a prettier penny, but this is something to bang onto steel plates and hope I hit something when I fan the hammer.
  10. Since you're still waiting, I'll add my vote for the Ruger Single Six. You can read up on what "new model" means, but mine shoots 22LR like it shoots heat seeking laser beam missiles. I just looked and saw that I paid WAY less than the $600 MSRP, so hunt around and find a deal!
  11. There are some great comments above! I started down the same path as you, learning that a 22 will often not be made in the same way or even factory as it’s larger caliber cousins. I ending up buying a Sig Mosquito Sport, only to learn later that GSG makes them. They are now called the GSG Firefly and I don’t recommend it. - If you want a solid feeling gun, do try to check out a Beretta 71. - Ruger makes great guns but the SR22 is not on that level (as per my Sig lesson). Very plastic feel. - the idea of a conversion kit is a pro vs con and depends on how you plan to use the pistol. Pro: you get the same trigger and grip. Con: 22 burns dirty and leaves a bigger mess to clean out of the gun.
  12. Have any of you glocksuckers shot the LC9s as well? I find it fits my hand well, disappear IWB, and points better than the G43 for me.
  13. Not sure that the requirement to sell an inefficient design to a niche market is capitalism’s fault! I bet you a hand assembled Model T would fetch a pretty penny as well.
  14. My favorite thing to share when someone uses the "police have training" card is that I'm qualified expert in hand grenades per the US Army but not allowed to carry so much as an unloaded 22 in public because I'm not a police officer. IMHO, seems we have a government with a personal army instead of peace officers charged to protect and serve.
  15. My resolution will be to get another training cert so I can teach Rifle merit badge.
  16. More birds are killed by flying into glass than those clipped by wind turbines. But, you digress. As a non hunter, I'm mostly interested in cleaner shooting so I'm not tracking toxins into my house with my kids.
  17. After the “blue wave” swept NJ, deer are now comfortable living a polyamorous lifestyle in the open. Stop judging their choices!
  18. To counter the hate, I have a PSA 20" Rifle Length 5.56 NATO 1/7 Melonite A2 Freedom Rifle Kit that I think is a fine tool. The upper came assembled and I assembled the lower with simple hand tools. If you need a jig, godbless, but I'm pretty sure I'll end up scuffing this TOOL at the range worse than any imperfections that would happen during assembly. For even more fun, it prompted me to buy a shit-tier drill press at Harbor Freight and do the compliance work myself. Now I have a bangstick that can ring steel at 100yd on iron sights from a standing position with cheap ammo. Horses for courses, gentlemen.
  19. Perhaps I missed it, but is this a 2 door or 4 door? Either way, here's an easy gadget to put you another $1k in the hole on purchasing that property. https://www.northridge4x4.com/part/rear-cargo-storage/gcp-1jku-grenadeacorp-sub-roof-concealed-locking-storage-system
  20. Same as searching "beretta USGI" to find the old AWB magazines. That stuff always gives me a grin.
  21. You heard great advice already. A JK with 215k is a great starting point for a trail/hunting truck.
  22. He said "meet", not "meat". I'd like to meet Arthur C Clarke.
