Grapeshot 301 Posted October 18, 2022 One of the guys from my Marlin FB group just posted this. I'm usually pretty traditional when it comes to firearms, especially lever guns, but there is something about this that I really like. Opinions?

These mods have spurred a resurgence in the lever action market. Here’s another: https://fightlite.com/herring-mod24
Scorpio64 5,155 Posted October 18, 2022 There are a couple guys on the Marlin Owners forum that do this sort of thing with beat up guns. I don't think it looks bad or ugly, but it does not seem to be particularly useful either. Like, what's the point, other than to appear modern.

Someone sent me this photo a while ago and it gave me the itch: I looked everywhere for a .38/.357 at a decent price and none were out there. Finally got a .44 version at a very good price. I just got the Ranger Point Precision trigger, loading gate, and handguard already. The MI stuff on that 336 is nice, but I like the Ranger Point stuff a little better and the MI handguard won’t fit on the barrel banded model 1894 that I have) Deciding on stock and top rail next. 1 hour ago, FairbanksRusty said: These mods have spurred a resurgence in the lever action market. Thats a mag fed lower that will take any AR upper to make a 50 state legal lever action rifle in 5.56 or .300blk (or any cartridge that’s will fit in an AR mag and it’s corresponding upper)

Looks like it got beaten with a Tapco catalog. Wow…I guess beauty is in the eyes of the beholder!

They are very popular on the Marlin forum. They sometimes have special offers for MO members. I thought about getting one of their loading gates for my 336. RPP does makes some interesting stuff though. Those adj. aluminum buttstocks from Chisel Machining are pricey. Certainly makes for an all-weather piece though. Jon K 32 Posted October 19, 2022 Guess it's an improvement over the crappy wood on Marlins.

Jon K 32 Posted October 20, 2022 Don't get me wrong, have a few older marlins that I got lucky with quality and fit/finish. Just a wood lover, and the Henry's really are beautiful pieces. That said, I do like the look of this Marlin, and I'll definitely keep my eye out for a cheap Marlin with crappy wood, to make one of these.
High Exposure 5,664 Posted September 24, 2023 Finally finished mine: JM Stamped Marlin 1894 in .44mag. Just waiting on the sling and it’s done. 3
