Turtles..

One of the roads i drive on frequently runs out to the bay i do alot of work out their at marina's.The turtles come up to the roadside to lay eggs. I have yet to figure out how people run them over it pisses me off every time i see a new one crushed. It is not like a deer where it run out in front of you and you could not avoid it. The dam things can barley get out of their own way and some smuck has to come along and run it over..

You're talking about Seven Bridges/Great Bay? We used to cruise it all the time. The terrapin stains are quite disheartening. People just don't give a damn, sucks.

Very sad...I feel bad for those guys. When I lived in Lacey you'd see them on the roads around the lakes. I'd try my best to save them every time I'd see them. People just dont care anymore. :evil:

Had one in my driveway this morning. We have signs in some areas where they frequent.

There are squashed turtles all over the NJTP in the Meadowlands area. Most of them lay squashed on the exit and on ramps. They come to the asphalt surface to bask in the sun as the asphalt gets hot.

 

They get hit because they are laying still and a motorist isn't paying attention to what lays in the road ahead.

I can see them being run over on the njtp but not on a off beat road with little traffic.

urban, that one is a snapper turtle. the ones we see out here are all diamond back's.

and at the woods line box turtles..
