How about Savage?

:naughty: :naughty: not related to the OP - Just pushing your views on others. I like that, but not your choice of Savage!

French Tickler my friend - trust your stache power instinct!

Now - between the 2 we know you are considering.....(Might I add the Remmy 700 is my 2nd favorite factory action)

Tiny's VTR consistently shot crappy ammo (Ultramax Remanufactured) into a 1.5 to 2 inch group at 200 meters - and I wasn't really trying. When I cleaned it up well and put some Gold Medal down the pipe - 5 shot groups shrank by a good margin - It's a good rifle for the money without a doubt. With a good bedding job - it will easily be a clover leaf creator.

As for the licoriche (spelling?) stick we talked about the other night - I won't know until I convince him to let me scope it out and blast away! If you get that one instead of the vtr, all I have to say is, "when we going to the range brudda?"

The stock on the P is probably a little nicer but that is an easy switch on any rifle these days.

A friend just bought a brand new 700 P (26 inch bull) for less than $900 out the door and anyone who has spoken to me about my EXTREMELY biased .308 opinions will attest that the Remmy 700 Police / Bull barrel Varmint models are my 2nd favorite factory rifles.

Now on to real business - when are we going to take that AWESOME S&W out for session again?

Hope this helps!

Off to go to the garage fridge - my brewski is getting warm!

:text-threadjacked:

sorry to jack the thread but I will give a tid bit of info at the bottom.

Darien, when are we meeting up. You gotta check out my Rem 700 Mtn LSS I need someone with some good knowledge to shoot this thing. I'm still working on scoping it in, but so far I'm wickedly impressed with it. Gun shoots sooo smoth, and the trigger is just amazing.

But I will mention with a .308 get the longer barrel of whatever you get. My buddy has a Remington Model Seven in .308 and he's not crazy about it. He says its just too much power in such a little gun it beats the crap out of you. So thats always something to think about.

thanks 1911 I think the VTR is the way to go. It still shoots better than my abilities and I have lots of military surplus 308. Need to pick up some match ammo.

Don't sell yourself short.

I don't buy the my abilities crap people who don't want to fork out the cash for a good rifle say!

I used to think that way - then I bought my first precision hunting rifle many years ago - guess what - it wasn't me my friend!

Can I come hide in the ammo fort too?

And NO - I will not lick the stache Wyatt. I'm not your huckleberry.

Tiny's Kimber is a great rifle. It is based upon the model 70 action (just streamlined) which is my favorite action and also what the FN SPR's are built on. Since Tiny wants some respect for his thunderstick (and it is deserving of praise) I will now say here are my top 3:

1.) Model 70 action.

1.5) Kimber Tactical (Built in their 8400 length long action).

2.) Remmy 700 action.

Sorry Tiny. The Kimber is top notch as well.
