JonF 79 Posted April 12, 2010 Nice Maks, hows the bore/rifling on that one?
Maksim 1,504 Posted April 12, 2010 Nice Maks, hows the bore/rifling on that one? strong rifling, very clean. I ended up cleaning it last night. Was surprised. After spraying it with breakclean, then hoppes patch.... they came out clean. Took a bronze brush... on the second patch, was clean. hehe.
Greydaddy 2 Posted April 12, 2010 Nice looking rifle, Maks.
usnmars 136 Posted April 12, 2010 you will be shocked at how much more accurate an m39 is compared to a mosin. I gotta say she sure is purdy!
Maksim 1,504 Posted April 22, 2010 She is a shooter. took her out to dix today and ran through a box of wolf gold. Shot at 50 and 100 yards. Was able to hit water bottles and did it make them fly. Would love to shoot a steel plate or different paper target vs what i had today, or run it off a bench to really see how accurate she can get. but... first impressions... Felt alot more solid over the 2 mosin 91/30s I have, and it did kick a bit more, or at least the metal butt plate from the fin hurts more than the one on the russian. lol. Now that I have some brass, looking forward to some light loads so I can really start enjoying the russian military variants quite a bit more. moral of the story, yes, it costs 3x more than a regular mosin, but if you have a chance to pick one up, absolutely worth it. lunker 274 Posted April 22, 2010 I ordered a nice steel silhouette target from Widener's (like JonF has). I'll put my Swiss up against your Finn. Water bottles at 100 yards! Steel plate at 200 yards. The Iron Sights Challenge gauntlet has been thrown.
theRU 33 Posted May 18, 2010 whatever happened with the challenge? Who won?
lunker 274 Posted May 18, 2010 whatever happened with the challenge? Who won? I need to take off another Wednesday or Friday to make it happen at Fort Dix. Unfortunately I am not self-employed like our intrepid leader.
docwalt 1 Posted May 18, 2010 Aren't you guys afraid of those bullets coming back at you using steel plate? Or hitting someone else?
lunker 274 Posted May 18, 2010 Aren't you guys afraid of those bullets coming back at you using steel plate? Or hitting someone else? Steel plates at 200 yards. That is sufficient to prevent splash back. It's a rule at Fort Dix.
JonF 79 Posted May 20, 2010 I set my plate on a hinged stand so it just gives way and deflects into the dirt.
