njpilot 671 Posted July 31, 2010 Very sorry for your loss Nick. It never is easy, especially when she was with you for so long and from such a young age. It does get better with time, but you never forget them, you just appreciate the good memories. Take care of yourself.

Edge 6 Posted July 31, 2010 Sorry for your loss, I had to put my 13 year old Lab down 2 months ago, hardest thing I ever did......I cried like a baby. The Rainbow Bridge inspired by a Norse legend By the edge of a woods, at the foot of a hill, Is a lush, green meadow where time stands still. Where the friends of man and woman do run, When their time on earth is over and done. For here, between this world and the next, Is a place where each beloved creature finds rest. On this golden land, they wait and they play, Till the Rainbow Bridge they cross over one day. No more do they suffer, in pain or in sadness, For here they are whole, their lives filled with gladness. Their limbs are restored, their health renewed, Their bodies have healed, with strength imbued. They romp through the grass, without even a care, Until one day they start, and sniff at the air. All ears prick forward, eyes dart front and back, Then all of a sudden, one breaks from the pack. For just at that instant, their eyes have met; Together again, both person and pet. So they run to each other, these friends from long past, The time of their parting is over at last. The sadness they felt while they were apart, Has turned into joy once more in each heart. They embrace with a love that will last forever, And then, side-by-side, they cross over
CPRPE 4 Posted July 31, 2010 So sorry to hear this news. The heartfelt condolences offered here are a testament to what our best friends mean to us. We had to put our 12 year old Golden down on Jan 28 this year. It does get easier but nothing will replace your friend. But another will come along to help fill the void. It just takes time. Radek 73 Posted July 31, 2010 Well just got the news from my parents that were putting my dog Sandy down today. We've had this dog for 18 years so to say the least, i'm devastated. We got her when i was six so i really can't imagine not having her around. This SUCKS I too have a "Sandy" and she is almost 14 years old. Got her from a shelter for my daughter. She has been healthy till about a year ago, but now she has lost bladder control. She takes off doggy diapers immediately! We are cleaning up the floors constantly. Also, she may be losing eyesight too ... the poor thing goes to the bedroom for food or tries to go towards the basement door when I ask her to go to the backyard! We call her the crazy ole lady We hope she dies peacefully when it's time. My family always had several dogs, so I know how it feels. Dogs are like family, and great companions. Don't feel bad, it's time to let go ... and if you have the space and time, you should get another puppy! When I get a ranch in Montana, Wyoming ... I will get a Siberian Husky! Actually, a bunch of puppies!
