New addition to the family...

Recommended Posts

Just brought my new S&W 1911 home today, so I thought I'd put some new pictures of the addition to the family. Didn't have time to take very good pictures, and took them with my little snapshot digi-cam. Will put up some better shots once I can get some time to setup the DSLR along with some proper lighting. I took the 1911 apart and gave it a good cleaning, so now i can't wait to get it to the range and play with it. The pistols is brandy new and unfired but the trigger already feels sooooooooo sweet! I'm sure it'll get better as it gets broken in. There's no jiggle or play in the trigger... it breaks like glass and reset is nice and short. I love it, and I think I'm a 1911 fanatic in the making! LOL!

Here are some pics (some alone and some with my Beretta 92A1):

Nice pair. I see somebody likes the rails. I am completely the opposite. I like no rail on my 1911 and Beretta. I gave in on my CZ P01 since it has 15 rounds of home defense goodness and I need somewhere to hang my TLR-1.

I think it's cool that S&W 1911's have their own style, even if it's not my style.

I'm with either side. I love 1911's with, and without the rails. I have seen the new S&W 1911 line in person, and the fish scales don't look as bad in person as they do in pictures.....although I still can't get past it. However, nice addition!!

+1 on all that yo!

But to be serious for a second, you have 2 of the greatest pistols of all time. And that's no joke! Now you need a revolver and the planets will align and all will be right in "Tony's world".

I keep going back to this post to see your new .45 Tony. The styling has caught me. I never really wanted a 1911 before, but that is slowly changing. At this point the prospect of adding another expensive caliber to my line-up is the biggest hurdle.

Do you plan to reload for it?

Hi Dan,

Yeah, I was a little iffy on the fish scales at first... but then it kind of grew on me over time, and then realized that I loved it. That's why I ended buying this pistol instead of the Pro Series version which uses the old styling. Actually the pictures don't do the pistol any justice at all... It's much more attractive in person, and I love the fact that it is DIFFERENT. I can guarantee that you'll love this pistol if you buy one... it's really gorgeous and you just feel the quality in it's construction. Everything is fit together so nice and tight, but functions as smooth as butter. I'm very very impressed with it.

I am already reloading for it... I have put together a couple of hundred loads for it and will be making more... but also have a case of factory ammo coming today (Fiocchi 230gr from DansAmmo), so I plan to shoot both factory and reloaded ammo. I'm using LSWC bullets and Bullseye powder for my relaods. GlennP provided me with a great recipe for low charge target loads using this combo.

You are managing to stay one gun a month ahead of me, Tony! Jim Flynn's safe must be getting dry - guess we should order up some more for him to keep for us. I got my CCO and the Valor shoul dend its prison sentence May 7.

Nice looking 1911 - enjoy it.

I won't hijack your thread with a bunch of gun porn but here is one on my new Dan Wesson CCO:

That's a beauty. Get a pic of the Valor up too. I came within a hair of buying one, but opted forthe Colst Series 70.
