FL requiring drug tests for welfare

Recommended Posts

If I have to get a drug test, finger printed, and have a background check done to make $12 an hour.....AND contribute to the pot that pays for welfare, I don't think it's unfair to ask the same of those who are TAKING from the pot.

I was not crying and carrying on when I had to get finger printed and a backgroud check to keep my job! I think the people who b!tch the loudest about taking a drug test are the people who would not pass one. There, I said it! (flame suit on) =@

I'll do you one better. I am against all FORCED charity, i.e. taxes to support government assistance.

My views on charity are very simple. I do not consider it a major virtue and, above all, I do not consider it a moral duty. There is nothing wrong in helping other people, if and when they are worthy of the help and you can afford to help them. I regard charity as a marginal issue. What I am fighting is the idea that charity is a moral duty and a primary virtue.

Couldn't agree with you more. I think "Government assistance" is a huge crock of you know what. Let's face it, do you think one of these politicians care about the poverty line? It helps them get votes. I'll be ecstatic if it's ever done away with, which will happen around the same time as pigs fly and we get civilian carry here in NJ. I couldn't agree more with Paul either. I don't think there's anything wrong with helping people, but do a freakin' collection for it. Don't take it out of my paycheck when I'm WORKING for my money.

I am all for the helping hand of welfare to help people get off drugs. It makes perfect sense. Any full time position I have accepted had me taking a drug test. Anyone on welfare should be expecting to get off welfare. You can't get hired if you fail the employers' drug test so why not start now?

But lets be real here, the money saved is going to go to putting them through rehab.

I dont think it would snowball. You have to drug test to get a job with the govt and get a paycheck, why shouldnt you have to drug test to not have a job and get a paycheck from the govt? Its not an invasion of privacy/forced testing, if you dont want to get tested dont go looking for welfare. Same with jobs. If you dont want to get drug tested dont apply at a company that drug tests.

I was going to say something like this, but I don't think I could have said it as well. Thank you.

Still doesn't account for all the alcoholic tobacco smokers. I'm for this, because i know they will not change anything else in regards to the welfare system. If they wanted to find a way to make it more efficient then i dont think we would have to resort to making people take drug tests.

I am drug tested for the money I earn so I dont see how its unfair to drug test to get it. I am fully in support of this. Its not that hard to live life without drugs people. Two of my friends are DYFS case workers and the hard core addicts use none of their assistance money on their family or kids. Drug abuse runs rampant in my family and any money they can get for free goes 100% into their habit. Addicts dont like to work for their money.

    • We never let then inside.  Last re-evaluation was 6-7 years ago, wife politely told him that he was welcome to look around the property and he could look in the windows. He saw two white resin chairs in the basement and told her that this constituted a finished basement. And everything in the basement is bare concrete/ cinder block, and mechanical systems. Nothing finished about it. Ultimately he relented and I'm sure that was a ploy to coerce us to allow him in
    • I use an Alien Gear cloak tuck (IWB) with my Shield.  Neoprene back - in the summer it does feel warm but doesn't rub or chafe.   https://aliengearholsters.com/ruger-lcp-iwb-holster.html Could also go with the shapeshift as it has multiple options - OWB/IWB, Appendix... https://aliengearholsters.com/ruger-lcp-shapeshift-modular-holster-system.html
    • The  12-1 compression ratio L88 is long gone. This is GM's updated version. it might be  pump gas 10-1 engine The L88 was a aluminum head  cast iron block engine with a nasty solid lifter cam. the  ZL1 was a all aluminum  12 or 13-1 compression ratio engine with the best forged internal parts at the time and had a even nastier solid lifter cam
    • I like my regular carry holster.  OWB leather with belt slots.  I've been carrying for over a year and it was comfortable and I hardly even noticed it.  I carry (usually) a Ruger LCP .380 - light, convenient, tiny. But...today I ended up taking it off an leaving it home after a few hours. I cut down a big maple tree a few days ago and I spent 3/4 of today loading and unloading firewood into the back of my truck and a trailer.  It was a warm day, I was dirty, tired, sweaty, and my holster was rubbing against my side.  The leather and exposed metal snap was no longer comfortable. I'm thinking about adding a layer of something to that part of the holster to soften the contact.  Anything insulating will make it worse.  I don't want a sweaty, hotter holster against my skin.  I'm imagining something thin, breathable, that won't absorb sweat, and softer than leather, metal snaps, and rivets.   But I have no idea what would work. I'm hoping somebody else has already figured this out and I can just do what they did. Any suggestions appreciated.
    • Check the primers on the ammo you didn't shoot yet. Are they fully seated? If the primer is not just below flush with the back of the case, the first hit can seat it better then the second hit ignites it.
