Recommend me a work knife.

Recommended Posts

I have carried a Bucklite folder knife for years and it finally craped out. The tip broke and it's now sitting in the Kill Van Kull. Any recommendations? Looking for a cheap, do-all, work knife.

I carry a Gerber utility knife. They're $12 at Mcmaster.com http://www.mcmaster.com/#utility-knives/=dkv3tq

It uses the extra heavy duty blades which are thicker than the utility knives you get at Lowes/Home Depot. I love it.

It may not be as "Cool" as other knives but it works great.

here's mine:

I'd go with this.

In all seriousness, I like Wenger stuff

edit: I have one of the Ranger series

I keep looking at the Ranger series every time I stop at duty free at the Canadian border on my way back from Montreal, but they only stock the orange handle at a pretty decent price.

Way to expensive Bobby, my knife has to be able to scrap gum of the ground and cut boxes. El cheapo baby, those are for when i'm going out on the town with my lady friend.

You can always take advantage of Buck's "Forever Warranty" (http://www.buckknives.com/index.cfm?event=about.warranty) and get your Bucklite repaired. Last time I broke the tip on my Buck Ranger, I sent it to Buck and they replaced the blade free of charge, sharpened it, and cleaned the knife up for me. All I did was pay for shipping. Great service that will make me a buck customer for life :)

I love my Gerber knife for this very reason - I've had it for years and if it ever breaks, I can get it replaced via warranty!

cerrated?

Damn, that's not a work knife. That's a defensive piece that I wouldn't want to damage by cutting stuff all day.

Just cuz I think Hannity and Beck are douchebags doesn't mean I'm a *cringe* Democrat :thsmiley_deadhorse:

And you're entitled to want whatever you want - even if it's the wrong tool for the job :p

Way to derail your own thread tho

Spyderco tenacious is a good knife around $30. If thatsk a tad too rich for you, byrd knives make various models in partial or full serrated edge using decent steel that takes and holds an edge well. I like the cara cara, flight, and crossbill knives. New graham knives has a good inventory of knives of all types, i would look there.

did you ever decide on anything?

I just use my Leatherman Wave knife. I was gonna send my buck knife back in since Caine mentioned they will fix it for free if you send it in.
