Pizza Bob 1,488 Posted October 25, 2011 Thought I'd beat Mike (Col Mortimer) to it and list this upcoming match while everyone is still in a dither over Old Bridge. I have to say, I resisted going to Shongum simply because it was on a Saturday. Finally broke down and went (turns out my GF is glad to get rid of me - what's up with that?) and I'm glad I did. This has become my favorite USPSA venue. Ron puts on a good, well run match and they usually have some kind of side stage if you are interested. Last month was cancelled due to weather (and my mother's 90th birthday , j/k, but that's why I couldn't have gone anyway) and that was supposed to be a classifier with a rifle side stage - not sure how much of that, or even if that, is going to carry over - I'll let Mike enlighten us on that aspect. So, any chance of a NJGF squad at this match? I'll be there. Hope to see you. Probably have room for a rider if you're close by. Adios, Pizza Bob
Maksim 1,504 Posted October 25, 2011 This will be a classifier match. Assuming 5 stages. Mike/Ron please confirm. Tentative Attendance Yes Pizza Bob Maksim RecessedFilter Maybe Krdshrk Hiker88 HD2000fxdl
Krdshrk 3,878 Posted October 25, 2011 Possibly in. Rifle side stage?
Col. Mortimer 11 Posted October 25, 2011 Possibly in. Rifle side stage? If I remember correctly, there will be no rifle or shotgun side match. The classifier matches usually have the highest attendance. Therefore, they take longer to run and there is no time for the side match. The official email should go out in less than a week. I will post it as soon as Ron sends it out.

Col. Mortimer 11 Posted October 25, 2011 Any idea of the stages and/or fees? The stages will be included in the email sent out on Sunday, 10/30. As soon as I receive the email, I will post all the information. If I remember correctly, the fees are the same as always; $20 for non-members and $15 for members. I think there are six stages. Classifiers are usually short and simple stages.
hiker88 22 Posted October 25, 2011 Haven't shot at Shongum but might go to this one. I just need to get permission from the wifey.
AS350Driver 56 Posted October 25, 2011 Already know i'm gonna miss this one. hd2000fxdl 422 Posted October 25, 2011 Oh great I see this just after I agree to work for someone on that day, just my luck. Is there a match in December?? I have some time off and if it's not during my ski trip I would like to check Shongum out.
AS350Driver 56 Posted October 25, 2011 Harry it's usually the first Saturday of each month, I don't see why there wouldn't be a match then. Shongum is a nice place to shoot, I shot my first match there. It's definitely worth checking out.
hd2000fxdl 422 Posted October 25, 2011 I will check it out, more than likely in January..
Col. Mortimer 11 Posted October 25, 2011 Is there a match in December? Matches are held during the winter as long as field conditions and the weather permit.
RecessedFilter 222 Posted October 27, 2011 I will be in attendance.. I will say that I am frustrated there will be no rifle stage, but I do understand the circumstances of the match being crowded. I just got a new addition to my rifle collection and was realllyyyyy looking forward to it, especially since last months was canceled.
Maksim 1,504 Posted October 27, 2011 Dre, The reason for no side stage.... typically the shotgun or rifle side stage will be a regular stage, with a few mods for the side stage. Because this is a classifier match, the side stage would have to be completely new.
RecessedFilter 222 Posted October 27, 2011 Gotchya Maks, I understand... Still wish there would be some way to have a rifle stage though

Maksim 1,504 Posted November 2, 2011 ttt, so who is in?
Col. Mortimer 11 Posted November 2, 2011 I'll be there. The Tenafly USPSA practice match was cancelled due to no power. These stages call for accurate shot placement so I could have used some practice. I think I was in a fog last match. The brain was not working and I was distracted. I'll have to do better for the classifier.

Pizza Bob 1,488 Posted November 3, 2011 About what time does this finish up? I'm a bit tight on time and can't be there all day. Hard to say since, being a classifier, this is different than their usual monthly match. While it has more stages (6 vs the usual 5), they are of shorter duration/lower round count, plus they are consistent from stage to stage (no excessively long stages to back things up). It is also dependent on the turnout. The regular matches are usually done around 3:30 PM. I kind of expect this to go quicker, but I may be totally wrong. Hope that range conditions will be OK as I'm looking forward to this. Adios, Pizza Bob
