RUTGERS95 890 Posted March 28, 2012 Anyone here put paracord on their ACE stock? I'm thinking of doing it and read the directions on ar15.com.
Tactical Monkey 51 Posted March 28, 2012 Yup. It's a crappy cell phone pic, But I've done it twice, and it comes out pretty good. I recommend tacking down the loop end with a piece of tape, so it will stay straight when you wrap along the buffer tube, Good Luck!
dtown223 12 Posted March 28, 2012 Another crappy cel phone pic I haven't tried the fancy braiding yet, but a simple wrap isn't too difficult Dave T 07628
Old School 611 Posted March 28, 2012 Here's the next question... Has anyone ever done it over the exiating foam?
RUTGERS95 890 Posted March 28, 2012 good advice tactical..... they all look good and I plan on doing it to two rifles. I took the foam off my stocks from the word go as I like the look and oddly, the feel, of the metal without it. thx
DirtyDigz 1,812 Posted March 29, 2012 Had this as a side project for a while. Anyone got a link to the instructions at ar15.com?
dtown223 12 Posted March 29, 2012 The braid should just be as easy as doing the survival bracelet wrap....no? probably, I plan on giving it a shot when I have some time to kill, I was pleased with how "grabby" the paracord is, seems fairly easy to work with Dave T 07628

JonF 79 Posted March 29, 2012 I usually 'cord the buffer tube to bridge the gaps between the stock and receiver on my guns with a pinned stock. This alleviates the step from stock to tube and provides a smoother surface for laying your face on. I've never followed any guide, but its simple enough to wrap around, tuck back through a few of the loops to seal it up and call it a day. One additional thing i do to prevent it from fraying/unraveling is to singe the end of the rope with a flame to not only keep it from fraying, but the bulbous molten tip wont pull back through the loops and unravel your work. JackDaWack 2,895 Posted March 29, 2012 What jonF said. If you do it tight enough it will never come off that way. The biggest issue when working with winding rope, the tighter the better. You want to be pulling the rope to press everything together, any slack will eventually work it apart.
Vlad G 345 Posted March 29, 2012 Paracord tends to be slightly more elastic if moist/wet, and if you install it in that state it will tighten up some more as it dries.
