AMMO Too many choices ! Need help !

Recommended Posts

Well, getting my first AR Stag Arms Model 3 from Bullseye this coming week. I've been looking at ammo, and want to know what to avoid. Love the pricing on the russian stuff, tula etc... I was told to avoid the laquer coated steel casings. Tula lists it as Phosphate polymer-coated steel case. Same as WPA. Will this ammo cause problems ? Just looking to buy the least expensive, but obviously dont want crap !

Thanks

Rich K

The steel cased ammo won't cause you problems (imho) as long as:

-The firearm manufacturer doesn't tell you it will void the warranty (like in the Thompson 45acp)

-You don't leave it sit in the sun on the line when shooting a match (keep it frozen overnight before the match and bring it to the range in your cooler bag)

-You don't shoot brass-cased ammo immediately after the polymer-coated steel-cased stuff without cleaning the chamber with a chamber brush

-You avoid the older lacquer-coated steel-cased ammo
