NJScott 15 Posted September 19, 2012 Just checked out the revised BPD page for the ABC/permits division and see they are no longer accepting handwritten FID or PP forms. I don't know the legality of this change and was wondering if any other PD's have this requirement? While I won't have a problem dealing with it, I shouldn't have to deal with it. For those applicants without PC's (and I'm sure there are a handful of them out there), it is just another obstacle put in their way, IMO. lunker 274 Posted September 19, 2012 If it speeds up the process it will be worth it. I doubt it will though. It seems more like just another deliberate obstacle placed there by the PD.
Pizza Bob 1,488 Posted September 19, 2012 2C:58-3,f which states, in part: There shall be no conditions or requirements added to the form or content of the application, or required by the licensing authority for the issuance of a permit or identification card, other than those that are specifically set forth in this chapter. Think that pretty well covers it
Jamie6607 0 Posted September 19, 2012 Thanks for mentioning this Scott...I have a friend about to submit his application for FID and P2P. I will have to give him the heads up.

woodentoe 14 Posted September 19, 2012 They got tired of trying to read Ray Ray's handwriting. They figure they may get a break in permits when BLF's printer runs out of toner.

BlueLineFish 615 Posted September 19, 2012 I scanned all docs a long time ago. Everything gets printed out. All I have to do with a pen is sign and date the forms.
Blacksmythe 71 Posted September 19, 2012 on the NJSP website you can type in the fields on all of the forms. So maybe they want everyone to use those forms instead of printing and copying them. However what if your in your 60's with no P.C.'s
Pizza Bob 1,488 Posted September 19, 2012 However what if your in your 60's with no P.C.'s You don't have to be in your 60's to be a technophobe. This is just another roadblock.
Jamie6607 0 Posted September 19, 2012 I just did my application for FID in Jersey City and I was required to type out the NJSP form as well, no hand written forms would be accepted. The rest of the forms in the packet were ok for print, just not the first form. I found it odd but typed it up anyway.
Tango Charlie 0 Posted September 19, 2012 I was there just the other week and they gave me a packet, including the form for my fingerprints, that needed to be filled out. The packet included the FID application, mental health form, and the consent forms. Strangely, although I had a typed out FID form, Det Donaway told me to fill out the copied FID form anyway. BlueLineFish 615 Posted September 19, 2012 I would always prefer typed forms. People have horrendous handwriting. I myself type everything because my handwriting sucks. I have a hell of a time reading witness statements so the more that's typed the better. To me it's really not a big deal.

Barms 98 Posted September 19, 2012 I was always sorta hoping that if mine was typed it just might pass through easier.. but agree.. its sorta profiling almost.. now THAT would make an interesting newspaper article.... Where is that Star Ledger guy?
Underdog 1,593 Posted September 19, 2012 The Statists are at it,again. If they remove the BS OGAM rule I will gladly type of my form, or if the permits are valid for 365 days.

If you want it typed, then provide an incentive such as if the Police Departments and the state receive them typed, the the submitter should receive an extra 2 months on the permits, or something... a shortened time, etc.

NJScott 15 Posted September 20, 2012 I'm going to call the C of P tomorrow and ask if the detectives's bureau is going to provide a PC and printer for those applicants without access to them. Again, I feel this is all about roadblocking and has nothing to do with increasing efficiency in that office.

BlueLineFish 615 Posted September 20, 2012 Please, weapon and gun are blocked at my computers at work. Its a police station...lol
NJKen 23 Posted September 20, 2012 I was encouraged to do the same in east windsor. The detective that does firearms here told me it was to make sure he could read and understand everything I wrote down. I told him my handwriting is good and he told me thats fine then. It could be as simple as that. If you have good penmanship I dont see it being a problem. Ken
HavocMan 13 Posted September 20, 2012 Jeebus. I can't wait to move to a free country. Where do these new rules keep coming from??? Who's the guy that comes up with this stuff?
NJScott 15 Posted September 20, 2012 It IS a problem, unfortunately, because the BPD is not "encouraging" applicants to submit computer-completed forms; they have made it their publicly-stated policy to not accept handwritten forms any longer.
