My first Tupperware!

Recommended Posts

I bought my first Glock as a birthday gift to myself on Tuesday. Went with the FDE G17 and I really like it. It shot better than I expected out of the box. I don't need to go on and on about a Glock, it's a bit redundant. Just happy with another successful gun purchase.

I have gone back and forth on Glocks, and finally come to appreciate them (and own one again) for what they are. They are not fancy. I'm not sure there is much pride of ownership. But they are reliable and simple and accurate (enough). I can break any model down to its smallest parts and put it back together with a small punch. Breakages and stoppages are very rare. Parts are cheap and easy to come by. If you handed it to someone even mildly acquainted with firearms, they would be able to shoot it competently. Glock is the Chevy/Ford Truck of the gun world. If I want to get really good with just one handgun, it would be the Glock.

They dye it black too don't they?

I am unsure about the polymer used in Glock frames, but black is the "natural" state of the polymer used in PMags. According to Rich Fitzpatrick the Polymer King of Magpul, to make other colors, FDE, OD, FG, etc... The addition of a different colored material/dye is added, this can cause weakness and inconsistencies in the final molded product.
