What I tell those who say the second amendment did not foresee assault weapons and that civilians have no need for them, is that the whole idea behind the 2nd amendment was to give civilians the ability to fight oppressive governments by being armed and therefore the intent was to make sure that civilians were armed as well as any government troops. This is basic common sense that very few people seem to talk about. It does appear that most are afraid to discuss the 2nd amendment in terms of providing citizens a means to fight against their government when in truth that is what it is all about. It was not about concealed carry or self protection, it was about making sure we could fight oppression just as the fledgling U.S. did at the time.

I am by no means a red dot expert but isn't the eotech one of the few red dots that would work backwards, & it would mount it about an 1.5" or 2" farther forward which some people may prefer?
