When to apply for additional permits ?

Are there any rules or restrictions regarding application for handgun P2Ps ?

I still have one permit on hand and started wondering:

-do I need to wait till the expiration date of my existing permit (whether I use it or not) ?

-can I apply as soon as I'm done with my second permit ?

-can I apply right now ?

I have a permit left, when I was in the PD renewing it for another 3 months I applied for 4 more permits... Maybe by the time this one expires or I use it my new ones might be rolling in.

 

With everything so backed up the way it is, I'd do it now, and apply for 4 or 5 ( even though you probably wont use them all ) .. Better to have too many then not enough!

Are Local PD's required to extend permits or is it at the CLEO's discretion?

 

Rumor has it that my local PD doesn't do it or at least doesn't like to. I've never had the need.

 

With the current state of nics I have 1 permit that I won't possibly be able to use in time unless extended.

they are not required to, i dont think. some towns are much more likely to extend than others. Only thing to do is call and ask and see what they tell you. my town will extend without a problem (they told me about extending when i first picked them up).

Definitely apply now, it will probably take several months for them to be approved anyway.

I just applied to bayville and was told 3 months! For PP only. Have a Springfield Armory WW1 waiting for me!

Can you "pre-file" a NICS, so that you are good to go when you find the gun?

Does the NICS for the pistol require a: Make, Model, Ser # ?

apply the week after you receive your permits. by the time you use the three you should have new ones

Bayville has always been at least 3 months on p2ps. Good to see they have not stretched it out longer. I am remiss for not having some permits in the pipeline. Of course, I have no money for handguns right now.
