Just Cleaned My First Semi-Automatic

Well, that was easy!  Probably not a big deal for many but I thought it was going to more difficult.  Cleaned my CZ 75B that I purchased used from Gunbroker.  It's been to the range twice since I purchased and I thought I better get this thing cleaned! 

 

I don't know if most semis are this easy to clean but I have to say it was A LOT less intimidating than I thought it would be.  I'm a little impressed (and maybe a little high off the Hoppes #9 Cleaner) with myself right now.

 

Definetly going to have to purchase some of the low odor Hoppes.

Everyone develops tastes for different cleaners, but I'd recommend Mpro7. It's served me well and has little odor.

I actually like the smell of Hoppe's #9. Ballistol has a very odd smell though

I cleaned it in my spare bedroom / computer room wth the window open.  Wife and youngest daughter can smell it in next bedroom.  I'm in the computer room now inhaling deeply, smiling and typing away.....

You should check out the fresh minty smell of froglube. I'm tempted to try brushing my teeth with it!

Congrats in a job well done. I consider the takedown and cleaning aspect of any gun I look at buying now. My Sig 229 very easy takedown and cleaning. S&W 1911E is a bit more on takedown, as is any 1911, but cleaning is very easy. My Ruger SR45 has easy takedown, but a few hard to reach areas that I didn't notice until first cleaning.

 

I also happen to be a Balistol fan, but I'm considering trying something stronger for those times I done clean within a day or two after getting back from the range.

I clean in my garage. Usually with the door cracked halfway to get some ventilation. I use #9 and CLP. The wife says she can smell it in the house. I think she is crazy.

Hoppes Elite is virtually odorless as well..  that works pretty well for the CZ (thats what i use for mine)...  however, hoppes 9 does have that "i just cleaned my gun" smell..  heh

This^ Hoppes makes a great wife repellant when you want some peace and quiet in the man cave.

I've heard of FrogLube but never really looked into it. Is it one of those all-in-one cleaner/lubricants? Or is it something else special?

Picked up some Hoppes Elite yesterday while picking up some ammo for my trip out to EFGA. Gave the Hoppes #9 to a buddy to use. Have to look into the Frog Lube.
