Bully 749 Posted March 19, 2014 I called a relatively local shop and inquired about powder. I was informed that if I want to buy, I need my FID as it is now "regulated". Is this true? Did I miss something? C
Heavyopp 167 Posted March 19, 2014 "Regulated" -- I bet it's only at that shop...
Vlad G 345 Posted March 19, 2014 Nonsense. Which shop?
Bully 749 Posted March 19, 2014 I prefer not to say. I'll ask for a copy of the reg when I get there. Thanks. Sent from my XT1030 using Tapatalk

Kingsoverqueens 10 Posted March 19, 2014 Soloman's.
Vlad G 345 Posted March 19, 2014 Soloman's. That phrase needs more words, like a verb, some extra nouns, something other then the name of a place Do you mean Soloman's has adopted this made up policy or did you recommend people go there instead of the unnamed place? njpilot 671 Posted March 19, 2014 Soloman's. I've had Bob ask me for my FID for powder and or primers, but not Gene.
Kingsoverqueens 10 Posted March 19, 2014 I saw Gene ask just last week. He wrote the sale on one piece of paper and the buyers info on another. Don't recall if it was a log or not but he definitely wrote it down.

Don't recall if it was a log or not but he definitely wrote it down. Did he claim it was some form of law or just his personal policy. The man does have strange beliefs. It would be odd if "I don't take credit cards, and shove cash in coffee can" Gene started keeping that sort of records.
hiker88 22 Posted March 19, 2014 I don't mind showing my FID for as long as I can get my powder. I just bought primers from another local shop and all I showed them was my money.
njpilot 671 Posted March 19, 2014 I bought powder and primers a few weeks ago from Bob and in his usual obnoxious self, he said I needed my iD, which I had. Last week I went and bought powder and primers from Gene and my drivers license was good enough. Which was good since I forgot my FID. he didn't even ask for it. njpilot 671 Posted March 19, 2014 Speaking of Solomons, does anyone know his hours nowdays? Wed and Fri 6:30 pm to 9:00 pm. Sunday 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm

njpilot 671 Posted March 19, 2014 Thanx, those are as silly as hours get. Yep. Unfortunately it is what it is. Word of advice, go closer to closing. I've often waited 30 - 45 min on a very slow moving line when going early. One Sunday I told myself I should go at 3:45. Instead I went at 3:00 and waited until 3:45 and at that point there was only one person behind me.
bry@n 195 Posted March 19, 2014 Over a year ago I had Gene ask me for my FID and wrote info down in a book.
A-Tech 8 Posted March 20, 2014 Sorry, I don't buy from a guy that is self-regulating a log book of non-restricted items. With hours and policies like that, it just doesn't jive.
SmartAss 11 Posted March 20, 2014 I've been to Soloman's and Cheyenne Mountain several times this past couple years to buy powder - as recently as last week at Soloman's. Both places always ask me for my FID and write it in a log every time.
Bt Doctur 188 Posted March 20, 2014 Why ,when you can buy over the net without them? Only loaded pistol ammo needed an id to prove you were over
Vlad G 345 Posted March 20, 2014 Why ,when you can buy over the net without them? Only loaded pistol ammo needed an id to prove you were over 21 because in point of fact you can't buy over the net because it is hard to find right now, so if they have it local that is where you have to get it from. galapoola 102 Posted March 21, 2014 About 3-4 years ago I had to show my NJFID at Solomon's to buy primers, he scribbled the info into a ledger. PA is safer in my opinion, who the hell wants to be called by the NJSP one day because you have a cache of supplies to make 1000's of bullets for your arsenal of guns? Isn't that what things are devolving to in dumb states like NJ?
