OchoBlue 3 Posted April 25, 2014 Have a permit to burn and I'm deciding between an LCR 22 and an SR 22. The purpose of the purchase is "a fun to shoot 22 LR"... Any owners of either out there ?
ChrisJM981 924 Posted April 25, 2014 Do you mean Ruger LCR 22?
OchoBlue 3 Posted April 25, 2014 Thanks and fixed!
ChrisJM981 924 Posted April 25, 2014 I don't have one, but it looks like fun. I have a Walther P22 and love it. Small frame .22lr pistols are the bees knees.
DSD1026 48 Posted April 25, 2014 M&P22 would also qualify as a "fun to shoot" 22.. maybe a little bit bigger than the SR22, but light and easy to shoot.. if you're stuck on the 2 in the original post, i would pick the SR22.. for some reason, LCR is ugly and only holds 8 rds compared to the SR's 10.. just my personal opinion though.. brocglock23 4 Posted April 26, 2014 I own a sr22 and a lcr in 38. I believe the triggers between the lcr22 and lcr38 are the same and that is what I'll compare. The pros of sr-22 - da/sa (very nice sa pull, da is not terrible but nothing to write home about) -10 round mags which you can purchase multiple and practice fast mag changes -3 different palm swells to adjust grip Cons - doesn't seem to like low grain bullets - occasional feeding and ejecting issues with certain ammos Lcr pros (based of lcr38 and my own 22 revolver) - very smooth da trigger, if you can master it you're golden. And yes I'll write home about it. - no mags to worry about misfeeds or ejection problems - can shoot practically anything. Lcr cons Limited capacity No single action trigger ( I don't know if they make a lcrx22) My personal opinion is everyone should own a 22lr revolver and if I could go back I'd probably would have got a lcr22 over a sr22. H&K40Cal 0 Posted April 29, 2014 I have the SR 22 and I like it a lot. I don't have any hands on time with the LCR so I can't comment on it.

And unlike brocglock23, I have not found it to be the least bit finicky about ammo. I can't recall ever having it malfunction.

DeerSlayer 241 Posted April 29, 2014 I have a P22 as well. Fun little gun. Good quality for the $.
Sota 1,191 Posted April 29, 2014 I have an SR22. I take it with me every time I go to the range as my "warm up" gun. cheapest way to knock off some of the cob webs from my shooting before I start throwing expensive lead downrange.
jm1827 284 Posted April 29, 2014 Another recommendation for the SR22. I have one as well and it eats anything I put i it, the wife and kids love it as well.
A-Tech 8 Posted April 30, 2014 I have an SR22 with a couple thousand rounds through it. Personally I love shooting it. Its a blast to mess around with and I really don't experience ammo problems with I remember there being a problem with something early on. I'm pretty sure it was something like the barrel coming loose and eventually making the hole egg shaped. I have had no problems at all and love it. DTtuner 21 Posted May 1, 2014 SR22 owner here. Fantastic little plinker. I now own 5 magazines for it since the 10 rounds go fast when you're having fun. Eats any and all ammo i feed it, including Remington Thnderbolt. Had a few hickups within the first 50 rounds. Nothing a break-in and good cleaning didnt remedy. Plus, the accessories market is growing. I plan to pickup a threaded barrel for it, so I can put a supressor on it one day when I move to America.
