Shooting long range or want to join a fellow shooter?

Recommended Posts

I belong to cjrpc which is a 300 meter baby range, but it is a great range. I can bring two experienced guests at a time and let's ring some steel. I try to shoot at cjrpc once a week and prefer a Sunday afternoon or 4pm'ish on Thursday. If you're already a member, great, lets pick a time and shoot.

If there's serious interest after shooting at cjrpc and want to record more data, I'm a member at new holland . That ranges out to 600yards and they said they will bump it out to 800 yards next year. I can use club steel at every 100 yards and set up more steel every 25 & 50 yards to help you guys build a nice dope card. I'm allowed to bring 3 guests per visit and contribute $5 per guest to the club.

It would be cool for us to experience different platforms and optics first hand.

I'd be very interested in this, specifically on Thursdays. Do you have a chrono as well? I will need a good dope card once I finalize my .338wm loads.

No chrono yet, last piece of gear I don't have but need.

Can't shoot my big $$$$ plates with that caliber, lol. You get the 10" which should be a breeze out to 600 yards at new holland. Lets do this.

I have 3", 6" and 8" round plates I can bring with as well :)

I'll send a PM.

I didn't know New Holland range was that big.  My brother in law lives out in Ephrata.  I have membership to Penn Dutch Sportsmen which is interestingly right next door (1.9 miles away, just shy of the capabilities of a .338 Lapua).  They only have a 400 yard range.

I'll be heading out there this weekend.

Where is CJRPC? I'd be interested in going, if for nothing else, than to maybe learn some techniques from shooters better than myself, and to sight in my AR's Iron sights. I'd love to learn distance shooting, and have a few scopes, but don't know much about mounting, distance shooting, or any of that stuff really.

Unfortunately, im not a member of CJRP either, but im in too.

If we do Range 14, i can guest in 3 others, so if we had 3-4 R14 members, then that should cover a group.

Ill bring a MK12 copy AR 15 and a custom 6.5 CM defiance/bartlein bolt gun. All are welcome to take a few shots with it.

Eric

    • We never let then inside.  Last re-evaluation was 6-7 years ago, wife politely told him that he was welcome to look around the property and he could look in the windows. He saw two white resin chairs in the basement and told her that this constituted a finished basement. And everything in the basement is bare concrete/ cinder block, and mechanical systems. Nothing finished about it. Ultimately he relented and I'm sure that was a ploy to coerce us to allow him in
    • I use an Alien Gear cloak tuck (IWB) with my Shield.  Neoprene back - in the summer it does feel warm but doesn't rub or chafe.   https://aliengearholsters.com/ruger-lcp-iwb-holster.html Could also go with the shapeshift as it has multiple options - OWB/IWB, Appendix... https://aliengearholsters.com/ruger-lcp-shapeshift-modular-holster-system.html
    • The  12-1 compression ratio L88 is long gone. This is GM's updated version. it might be  pump gas 10-1 engine The L88 was a aluminum head  cast iron block engine with a nasty solid lifter cam. the  ZL1 was a all aluminum  12 or 13-1 compression ratio engine with the best forged internal parts at the time and had a even nastier solid lifter cam
    • I like my regular carry holster.  OWB leather with belt slots.  I've been carrying for over a year and it was comfortable and I hardly even noticed it.  I carry (usually) a Ruger LCP .380 - light, convenient, tiny. But...today I ended up taking it off an leaving it home after a few hours. I cut down a big maple tree a few days ago and I spent 3/4 of today loading and unloading firewood into the back of my truck and a trailer.  It was a warm day, I was dirty, tired, sweaty, and my holster was rubbing against my side.  The leather and exposed metal snap was no longer comfortable. I'm thinking about adding a layer of something to that part of the holster to soften the contact.  Anything insulating will make it worse.  I don't want a sweaty, hotter holster against my skin.  I'm imagining something thin, breathable, that won't absorb sweat, and softer than leather, metal snaps, and rivets.   But I have no idea what would work. I'm hoping somebody else has already figured this out and I can just do what they did. Any suggestions appreciated.
    • Check the primers on the ammo you didn't shoot yet. Are they fully seated? If the primer is not just below flush with the back of the case, the first hit can seat it better then the second hit ignites it.
