n4p226r 105 Posted May 27, 2014 here's what i would do. the total is $2477.06 buy this for the bushmaster and move the carbine stock over to the mega lower http://midwestpx.com/product_info.php?cPath=22_102&products_id=833 http://midwestpx.com/product_info.php?cPath=22_120&products_id=748 that will finish the lower on the mega arms and bushmaster, you won't need to do anything else to them unless you want to upgrade the trigger complete the mega arms upper with these parts to make a nice 14.5" build http://www.bravocompanyusa.com/BCM-14-5-Mid-Length-LIGHT-WEIGHT-Barrel-Stripped-p/bcm-brl-s-mid-14lw%20std.htm http://www.bravocompanyusa.com/BCM-Low-Profile-Gas-Block-p/bcm-lgb-.625.htm http://www.bravocompanyusa.com/AR15-mid-length-gas-tube-p/gas%20tube%20-%20mid%20length.htm http://www.bravocompanyusa.com/BCMGUNFIGHTER-Compensator-MOD-1-5-56-p/bcm-gfc-mod-1-556.htm http://www.gandrtactical.com/cgi-bin/commerce.cgi?preadd=action&key=ALG_SHIM&reference=/cgi-bin/commerce.cgi%3Fsearch%3Daction%26keywords%3D%26searchstart%3D0%26template%3DPDGCommTemplates/FullNav/SearchResult.html%26category%3DALGD http://www.gandrtactical.com/cgi-bin/commerce.cgi?preadd=action&key=NSR_RAIL&reference=/cgi-bin/commerce.cgi%3Fsearch%3Daction%26keywords%3D%26searchstart%3D0%26template%3DPDGCommTemplates/FullNav/SearchResult.html%26category%3DNRIF http://www.bravocompanyusa.com/Troy-Folding-Battle-Sight-Front-p/troy%20front%20sight%20rail%20mount%20m4.htm http://www.bravocompanyusa.com/Troy-Folding-Battle-Sight-REAR-p/troy%20rear%20sight%20-%20rear.htm http://www.bravocompanyusa.com/BCM-GUNFIGHTER-Charging-Handle-GFH-Mod-4-p/bcm%20gfh%20mod%204%20556.htm http://www.gandrtactical.com/cgi-bin/commerce.cgi?preadd=action&key=12841 that will complete the mega build then take the bushmaster upper, remove the gas block flip up sight and put the old front sight post back on it. add new compensator http://www.bravocompanyusa.com/BCMGUNFIGHTER-Compensator-MOD-1-5-56-p/bcm-gfc-mod-1-556.htm put that flip up front sight on this http://www.bravocompanyusa.com/BCM-Upper-Receiver-assembly-M4-Flat-Top-p/bcm4-ur-m4.htm http://www.bravocompanyusa.com/BCM-18-SPR-SS410-Barrel-with-Rifle-Length-Gas-p/bcm-recbrl%2018ss.htm http://www.bravocompanyusa.com/BCMGUNFIGHTER-Compensator-MOD-1-5-56-p/bcm-gfc-mod-1-556.htm http://www.bravocompanyusa.com/MI-SSK-Key-Mod-Series-One-Piece-Free-Float-Handgua-p/mi-ssk-12.htm http://www.bravocompanyusa.com/BCM-GUNFIGHTER-Charging-Handle-GFH-Mod-4-p/bcm%20gfh%20mod%204%20556.htm http://www.bravocompanyusa.com/BCM-Bolt-Carrier-Group-MPI-Auto-M16-p/bcm-bolt-carrier-group-auto-mp.htm also, buy a windham from steve once this is all done. Boejoula 0 Posted May 27, 2014 I would go with something along the lines of SPR.
MidwestPX 172 Posted May 27, 2014 Thanks for the order! SPR type builds seem to be pretty popular and with good reason. They're handy rifles that are a lot of fun to shoot at longer distances. I have a safe full of general blaster type builds but the SPR is the one I reach for when I want more than just running CQ drills. It would also give you the option of getting into 3 Gun competitions.
n4p226r 105 Posted May 27, 2014 rich. seems like everyone agrees. you're building an 18" midwest might as well put a magpul rifle stock and a2 buffer tube kit in a box

jm1827 284 Posted May 28, 2014 Pardon the dumb question but what exactly is an SPR build, special purpose rifle? Is it strictly an 18" barrel? Thanks in advance!
Lublin 3 Posted May 28, 2014 Yes, it's a Special Purpose Rifle. It can be as long as you want it to be, but I believe the armed forces' SPR's are 18" in length.
jrfly3006 42 Posted May 28, 2014 If youre looking for the military specs look here...I wanted to go the clone route for the MK12 SPR, but quickly realized it would cost me another $1500 to do it right...so for now my SPR is MK12 "inspired" Http://www.MK12.net
Lublin 3 Posted May 28, 2014 Alright, so I was trying to make myself build something other than a carbine because I already own one, but I really don't have a need for anything else. I'm going to build another carbine and have it be strictly red dot/holo sight & BUIS and keep the Bushmaster with the 1.5-4.5x scope and BUIS. Same platforms, different optics. blksheep 466 Posted May 28, 2014 You can build a retro clone. A1 upper, thin barrel. Thats the ticket.
checko 180 Posted May 28, 2014 You can build a retro clone. A1 upper, thin barrel. Thats the ticket. Not with the stuff he already bought. OP you may want to look into another trigger if you're going to do in SPR build. Get the ACT if you do a cqb rifle. I really like my lightweight 14.5 middy. Even thought is heavy as shit now

Lublin 3 Posted June 9, 2014 Had a marathon assembly session today and finished it off. A lot easier than I had initially thought. Guess that's the modular beauty of these rifles. The front Magpul MBUS sight seems slightly canted left. Odd as the free floating handguard is on perfectly. My guess is that, since it's a plastic sight, maybe it's slightly deformed? Anyway. Now it's time to pick an optic for it.
silverado427 10,730 Posted June 9, 2014 It looks good.

MidwestPX 172 Posted June 9, 2014 Nice looking build. How much does it weigh unloaded? My guess would be between 6.5 and 7 pounds
Lublin 3 Posted June 9, 2014 6 lbs. 0.6 oz. unloaded. Super light weight. The rear MBUS sight was the one that was canted. It was SUPER tight going onto the Mega upper. It may have stressed it a bit. I shimmed it up under the left side and it almost perfect. My Bushmaster is 6 lbs. 9 oz. on the nose. Very noticable difference in feel.
