Here is a story of 2 people who were found to be in illegal possession of a handgun and released ROR.

Not that I disagree because this has the hallmarks of another Shaneen Allen situation but I'm totally surprised.

Say What?...... we get jacked up for a wiff of a infraction...these fine folks had no license, unsecured hand gun,10+ hollow points, and weed and walked on their own recognizance?

So which one's relative is a large donator to the political machine?

"Inside the glove box, officers recovered a 9 mm Smith and Wesson handgun loaded with nine hollow-point bullets, police said. Police also recovered a clear bag of suspected marijuana and four additional rounds of hollow-point ammunition during a search of the vehicle. Both the driver and passenger were then arrested. Collier was charged with possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana, failure to keep right and being an unlicensed driver, and Liverpool was charged with unlawful possession of a handgun and unlawful possession of hollow-point ammunition, police said. Both Collier and Liverpool were released on their own recognizance pending upcoming court appearances, police said."

Didn't Brian Aitken have the book thrown at him for having a firearms in the trunk and faced 7 years in jail , but these people are released? There is more to this story than what we are privy to.

I secretly hope that we get more of these cases. Lets not get mad that someone from out of state got a pass (unless they are involved in otherwise illegal activity). Lets hope we gather up as many of these cases as possible and then use that as stepping stone to apply same to in-state residents.

I sat in the Union County Superior Court for a morning a couple years ago. About 50% of the cases had a weapons/firearms related charge. Only a couple of them had any bail, all the rest (over 10) were ROR.   It takes a serious violent act to get real bail (or very large drug arrest).

Harsh penalties are only willing dupes who try to live by the law.......

BTW, most of the weapons charges were for possession of an illegal firearm (unregistered handgun or no FOID). Several were for actual brazen open carry on the streets...

Tell me this thread is a New Year's joke. Did I wake up in the year 2525?

Think about it from the perspective of the criminal justice system: no driver's license, loaded gun in glove compartment, presumably no permit to carry, hollow point ammo, and a bag of weed. Put your libertarian sensibilities aside for a moment and assume you're a judge in New Jersey: You let these individuals go?

    • We never let then inside.  Last re-evaluation was 6-7 years ago, wife politely told him that he was welcome to look around the property and he could look in the windows. He saw two white resin chairs in the basement and told her that this constituted a finished basement. And everything in the basement is bare concrete/ cinder block, and mechanical systems. Nothing finished about it. Ultimately he relented and I'm sure that was a ploy to coerce us to allow him in

    • The  12-1 compression ratio L88 is long gone. This is GM's updated version. it might be  pump gas 10-1 engine The L88 was a aluminum head  cast iron block engine with a nasty solid lifter cam. the  ZL1 was a all aluminum  12 or 13-1 compression ratio engine with the best forged internal parts at the time and had a even nastier solid lifter cam
    • I like my regular carry holster.  OWB leather with belt slots.  I've been carrying for over a year and it was comfortable and I hardly even noticed it.  I carry (usually) a Ruger LCP .380 - light, convenient, tiny. But...today I ended up taking it off an leaving it home after a few hours. I cut down a big maple tree a few days ago and I spent 3/4 of today loading and unloading firewood into the back of my truck and a trailer.  It was a warm day, I was dirty, tired, sweaty, and my holster was rubbing against my side.  The leather and exposed metal snap was no longer comfortable. I'm thinking about adding a layer of something to that part of the holster to soften the contact.  Anything insulating will make it worse.  I don't want a sweaty, hotter holster against my skin.  I'm imagining something thin, breathable, that won't absorb sweat, and softer than leather, metal snaps, and rivets.   But I have no idea what would work. I'm hoping somebody else has already figured this out and I can just do what they did. Any suggestions appreciated.
    • Check the primers on the ammo you didn't shoot yet. Are they fully seated? If the primer is not just below flush with the back of the case, the first hit can seat it better then the second hit ignites it.
