PK90 3,570 Posted February 27, 2015 The old NJSP Guide Book said to run Wants and Warrants while the applicant is still present. Perhaps that is the "interview".
Blacksmythe 71 Posted February 27, 2015 Newark gave me an "interview" in 2012. It consisted of an explanation of OGAM and a questionnaire asking who lived with me.
ECsandstar 28 Posted February 27, 2015 Once it's on record, and stated on my FID, how can I get it removed? Does this information need to be present on permit applications from here on out as there is a section for it. Would I be denied permits if the info isn't a match? OfcrFek 21 Posted February 27, 2015 I have never heard of this interview before. They are "assessing" her or you. There is no law requiring an interview. That is what NICS is for. No criminal record and you are good to go. That does not seem legal to do. I just spoke to someone who works at the Bordentown Barracks. No interview required nor mentioned. Pick up forms there or do them on line; bring in check or money order for the number of permits you want. When I first applied for my FAID they did the "interview." A year later, when I went back for more P2P, I had to do the "interview" again. When I asked why, I was told it was to make sure all my forms are filled out correctly, so if there was something that was a problem on the form, it could be taken care of right there before it went out. It sounded like some BS, but I rolled with it just cuz it was only a half hr of small talk. A year after that, I filled out the forms for more P2Ps, and called them to set up another "interview" but was told there were so many people applying for FAID/P2P in Evesham that to interview everyone would be impossible, so they were "allowing" applicants to just drop off their completed forms. I've been meaning to apply for more P2Ps, now I'm curious if they're gonna let me just drop the forms off or if they're gonna try to make me interview again. bhunted 887 Posted February 27, 2015 Thanks for clarifying... Question #10 on the FPID/PPP application asks if you have any marks, scars, tattoos. That's were they obtain the info for the card itself. http://www.njsp.org/info/pdf/firearms/sts-033.pdf
Smokin .50 1,907 Posted February 27, 2015 32 YEARS ago I was fingerprinted and a Polaroid was snapped of me looking into the camera. It was then merely a part of the process. I never considered it to be anything more than attempting to properly ID the Applicant (ME), and in fact I welcomed it since I had had to go through a brief "hang-up" when I went for my mortgage, at the closing. Seems someone with the SAME NAME as me was a deadbeat and was arrested for passing bad checks. I had to sign an affidavit AT THE CLOSING to state that I was not the deadbeat in question. Having a photographic record to eliminate the chance of a similar problem (in addition to using your SS#) at point of sale would certainly streamline the process. Let's all remember the BS that Shawn had/has to go through with every NICS check.... He actually had to carry a letter from a CLEO stating that HE wasn't the Droid they were lookin' for........ As for "distinguishing marks", I asked the Cop in the records bureau what it meant and he said tats, missing digits from a chainsaw accident, etc., so I just wrote NONE. I think it was typed as a question on the form I filled-out over three decades ago! As for the need to photograph "distinguishing marks", may I say that some Horndog might have invented THAT one, lol! Dan 177 Posted February 27, 2015 What gets me is that we pay to sue them with our out of pocket money, they get to waste public funds fighting us. Then even if we win, there are no consequences on their side. After some time passes, they go back to breaking the law. Why not when they know they can't be held accountable. These "laws" that NJ LE are supposed to follow when it comes to the permitting process are laws in name only.
dwamp2006 1 Posted February 27, 2015 I have to use red lion for my permits, have applied 3 separate times for pistol permits, the first being a change of address aswell. Never had to do anything more than hand them the required paperwork. No pictures, no extra forms and never an "interview".....

djg0770 481 Posted February 27, 2015 Distinguishing marks - I wrote NONE. Or should I have written out the hundreds of minor scars all over??

Double Cheese 8 Posted February 27, 2015 The old NJSP Guide Book said to run Wants and Warrants while the applicant is still present. Perhaps that is the "interview". When I did the "interview" in Evesham, the interviewer sat with me for a minute or two and just checked that all of the forms were filled out correctly. He then disappeared for about 15-20 minutes. He came back in and I signed everything and was on my way. I suspect he did check for any warrants while I was waiting there. Ofcr Fek, have you applied for more permits recently? I just checked the Evesham PD's website and it looks like they changed the process slightly. It used to say you had to make an appointment to hand in paperwork with a time frame of 9am-3pm; now it says, "...please come to the Evesham Township Police Department and meet with a member of the department at any time on any day."
