DirtyDigz 1,812 Posted February 9, 2020 From Howell PD Facebook: Quote Howell Police are currently on scene at the library after a felony stop was conducted on a vehicle reported to be waving a gun out the window. The incident originated in the Point O Woods development off of Bergerville Road. A patrol unit located the vehicle driving near the reservoir and conducted the stop. Guns were located secured in locked cases. Occupants are detained. Scene is secure. Investigation is continuing. Update will be provided. UPDATE - FINAL: Occupants have been released from the scene. No charges will be filed. At this point we believe the caller either embellished or fictitiously reported this incident after seeing the occupants loading the gun cases into the vehicle. The firearms were properly secured and the owner legally possessed them. They were in the rear cargo area of the minivan. The occupants were on their way to the range and pulled into the library to drop off one of the passengers. We have now turned our investigation towards the caller for possible criminal conduct. High Exposure 5,670 Posted February 9, 2020 WP22 got it. Often times a municipal judge will hit harder on a local ordinance or DP than a county judge will on an indictable charge (4th - 1st degree crimes).

Kevin125 4,772 Posted February 9, 2020 I wonder if the real victims can successfully sue the person who filed the false report for violating their civil rights?
kc17 622 Posted March 26, 2020 The Victim and CNJFO are reporting an arrest has been made. No additional info. Edit to add: For whatever reason the link to the CNJFO post is not appearing. Maybe @Smokin .50 can comment?
