IDPA Intro class - August 29

Inner/outer belts are not legal in IDPA. Your belt must pass through all but 2 belt loops on your pants. I don't insist on it in my class, but expect to be told about it every time you used it at a club match and expect to earn an equipment DQ at tier 2 matches and above.

The number of mags you need depends on the division you're shooting. SSP, ESP & CO have a division capacity of 10. If you're running Jersey legal mags life is easier if you have 4 but you can get by with 3. You'll need 2 mag pouches.

The inner belt is supposed to be very stiff and designed to be used alone as a low profile EDC/CCW belt. Hopefully that's okay.

I have 3 mags and 1 double mag pouch. I'm still reading over the rule book, but it looks like if I take out my aftermarket trigger I can shoot SSP.

Hello all

I wanted to say thank you to @Mr.Stu for holding the IDPA into class today.   I had a great time and learned so much.  Also thank you to RSOs (Jon, Joe and Jim) that helped out.

looking forward to participating in my first match next month at Pburg.

I have been asked to run a class to prepare people for carrying a defensive firearm by my home range, Phillipsburg Pistol club.
It will be held on August 6th, from noon until approx. 4pm.
We will cover safe use of a holster and a number of defensive shooting techniques.
The class will finish with running each student through HQC1 and a certificate will be provided for those that achieve a passing score.
It is open to all, but members of Phillipsburg Pistol Club will have spots reserved for them.

I'm looking at running my IDPA Intro class a couple of times this year.
I'm trying to create a bit of separation between the classes and to run on different days of the week to accommodate those that have regular commitments on a schedule.
I have booked the range for August 29 which is a Saturday.
I also wanted to run it on Saturday, June 7 but the range is not available that day.
Is there any interest in a class on a weekday in June?
      Please let me know.

I am going to run another introduction to IDPA class in September. There are quite a few members here who have taken the class and followed up with going to matches and having a good time getting off the X.

If you have been wanting to get into practical shooting matches, but want a step up so you don't walk in blind, please consider this class.

      Thanks for looking,

    • I think this ammo was bought during the pandemic where it seems like quality control went out the window.  I should have taken a picture of the primers today after shooting. Some had some pretty deep indents.  I shoot da/sa. The thing that was a bit alarming was sometimes it didn't go off on the second attempt of dropping the hammer and sometimes it did.
    • It’s possible it’s the ammo.  Try a box of something from Federal-Federal primers are known to be the ‘softest’.  If you get misfires still, the gun is again the prime suspect   of course you’ll ultimately want it to run with any ammo, but I’ve known revolvers that can’t seem to get to 100% ignition double action with any other primer
    • I've been getting light primer strikes lately with my CZ. It's happening mostly with some remington 9mm I bought.   It has an extended firing pin and is certainly hitting the primer so I don't believe it's that.  Maybe the spring needs replacement? I did the pencil test and the pencil flew about 7 feet.  Is it just hard primers/crappy ammo? Gun has about 7/8k rounds through it.
    • Happened almost a year ago (5/23/23) on Easton Ave. Has anyone heard anything more about this? I can't find anything on on google.
