RobCo 16 Posted August 20, 2016 I know in the good ole' People's Republic of NJ that HK MP5's are illegal. Does anyone know of any variants that are legal in NJ? I've heard about the GSG5 thanks
DeerSlayer 241 Posted August 20, 2016 The GSG 522 is a .22lr I used to have one they look cool but they're a pain in the ass to clean
Lambo2936 297 Posted August 20, 2016 I'd love to have a nice pistol caliber carbine like the MP5. They were a blast to shoot out in PA too....
DirtyDigz 1,812 Posted August 20, 2016 Umarex makes a H&K licensed .22LR MP5-a-like as well. I have a GSG5, enjoy it. While I wouldn't call it a "pain in the ass", it does need more disassembly than many rifles to get at the bolt/chamber.
Lambo2936 297 Posted August 20, 2016 Yeah theres something like two .22's available, and any of the real HG caliber clones are stupid expensive. I looked into it a while back and there were one or two brands that make nj legal ones, but they are pretty damn expensive.

Had a lot of FTF and FTE's unless I was running CCI. When it worked it was a really fun gun. But I have just as much fun with the 15/22 I replaced it with.
RecessedFilter 222 Posted August 21, 2016 Last time I looked at a 9mm option it was close to 2 grand. Too much money for something that has to be compliant with tiny 15rders.
Lambo2936 297 Posted August 21, 2016 Yeah, they are 2-2500$ i think... Crazy.
tattooo 220 Posted August 21, 2016 The Umarex MP5 is illegal here because it says MP5 on the receiver. I already tried to get one.

RobCo 16 Posted August 21, 2016 Thats actually not a bad idea Build a 9mm AR!
Rob0115 1,105 Posted August 22, 2016 Thats actually not a bad idea It's a great idea. Wilson combat makes a glock version and stag makes one with colt mags. There are a number of choices now. I paid 2100 for my HK MP5K. It ain't cheap but it's cool.
MidwestPX 172 Posted August 22, 2016 With the low cost Glock lowers that New Frontier is putting out, there's no reason not to. I just put a non-reciprocating sidecharging upper on mine and it's damn-near perfect now.

Out of curiosity, what if you were to grind the MP5 off of the receiver and cerakote it in free usa? It still wouldnt be legal as it is still an MP5, right?
