  1. The signs have weight of law in Texas, if they conform to the standard type. In other words, you can be arrested if you're caught carrying concealed.
  2. Hmm... I happen to know more than a few people who treat their firearms this way...
  3. I'm very surprised anyone here is suggesting doing any amount of training without hearing protection, let alone multiple people. Hearing loss is cumulative and permanent. You will NOT heal from it. Shooting skill is perishable. How long will you retain whatever skill you gained from those one or two rounds without protection? I guess I must value my hearing more than most... I say no hearing protection for HD. It will already take you longer than you expect to orient yourself to the situation, arm yourself, and react. Expect a concussive blast. Deal with ringing ears later, because you were forced to. Don't volunteer yourself for it. Sheesh.
  4. They don't have those billboards in NYC because nobody can buy a handgun for themselves, let alone the other guy.
  5. I get them too. A lot of these calls are illicit, so the donotcall registry won't do much. The numbers are also often spoofed. It's a waste of time to manually block each number, since you probably won't get a call from it again. There's not much you can do but screen your calls. I use Truecaller which has a continually updated blacklist of numbers, and you can search for a contact name associated with unknown numbers. If you get a reasonable sounding name, it was either a legitimate call or a spoofed number. It will catch spam calls about 20% of the time, and you can confidently ignore them. With spam slowly becoming less profitable (finally), phone numbers verified to have humans at the other end are increasingly valuable. Lists are passed around and sold just like they were for email addresses.
  6. In addition to the sim card test that mikeyjones mentioned, be sure to also test logging in to iCloud on any used iPhone. If you find a phone that's iCloud locked, it means the original owner reported it stolen. While you would be able to use it as a phone without a problem, you won't be able to attach it to your Apple account.

Looks something out of a video game. Are you sure it doesn't shoot lasers?
  8. Had a BBQ yesterday. It was glorious. Today I'm in the mood for some spring cleaning.
  9. Saw a review about Pmags not dropping free from these, anyone have similar experience with that?
  10. At this rate, the stores won't have any people in them, and that will be the least stressful way to shop for Christmas. And then the cycle continues
  11. Holy necropost, Batman. Thought for a sec Ray Ray was making an appearance
  12. Can't make that. Seems every holiday party on this planet is on the 5th.
  13. Wouldn't that include soft-points too?

Chip McCormick seconded. I have the shooting star 8 rounders and find them to be completely reliable.
  15. Looks like they amended the article to correct the assertion about the ammunition.
  16. Signed. Will tell my buddies about this.
  17. I've said the same thing every time someone talks about "loose" gun laws in TX. No open carry? Legally binding 30-06 signs? Can't be in an establishment that makes 51% or more of its revenue from alcohol (excuse me, shopkeep, may I see your balance sheets)? Texas has a stigma, that's all. It seems even these gun writers fall victim to it.
  18. Back when I had a 1 hour commute into the city, I was ready to gouge out my eyes after only 4 years. Everyone's tolerance is different. What Mipa says about staying single is dead on. Where's your expected dating pool, anyway? City women won't even follow you to Hoboken, let alone PA. Good luck.
