  1. This. I moved two years ago and I told my realtor that showing were to be by appointment only with NO exceptions. I told him there were guns and ammo in the home and there could be no lockbox on the house and nobody could be allowed to be in the master suite without being accompanied by my realtor (that's where the safe was). Between that and the camera I was reasonably confident that things would be fine, and they were. I didn't care that people knew I was a gun owner (I couldn't really hide my reloading room) but I wanted to be sure strangers had as little access to the guns as possible.
  2. Midwest industries has basic/inexpensive ones: https://ads.midwayusa.com/product/1022195280?pid=996815&utm_medium=shopping&utm_source=connexity&utm_campaign=Gunsmithing+-+AR-15+Parts+(Not+Magazines)&utm_content=996815&cnxclid=16248478252949161405010090302008005 https://ads.midwayusa.com/product/1022194668?pid=838711&utm_medium=shopping&utm_source=connexity&utm_campaign=Gunsmithing+-+AR-15+Parts+(Not+Magazines)&utm_content=838711&cnxclid=16248478719098768513910070301008005
  3. I try not to read too deeply into the quagmire of NJ gun laws because if you do you'd find a rational that says you can even leave the house. None of the vehicles in my family have a trunk, so I typically have my pistols in a range bag and ammo and (loaded) magazines in a separate zipper bag (it was lunch bag we used to use at the beach). In the SUV vehicles I keep the bags all the way in back by the hatch. In the pickup truck I put them under the back passenger seat (as far out of reach as possible). If I get pulled over I'll let you know how it goes. I'm not putting any more thought or prep into it...
  4. This. Just drive like a normal person and it won't be an issue.
  5. According to the link. For non-Resident permits: Permit(s) Honored In: Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Delaware, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia, Wyoming Permit(s) Not Honored In: California, Colorado, Connecticut, District of Columbia, Guam, Hawaii, Illinois, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Puerto Rico, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Virgin Islands, Washington, Wisconsin, American Samoa, N. Mariana Islands For Resident permits: Permit(s) Honored In: Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Delaware, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia, Wyoming Permit(s) Not Honored In: California, Connecticut, District of Columbia, Guam, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, Puerto Rico, Rhode Island, Virgin Islands, Washington, Wisconsin, American Samoa, N. Mariana Islands I put the additional states that don't honor the out of state permit in bold. Not sure how accurate the list is, so it makes sense to do your own research prior to carrying anywhere...
  6. First you said this: Then you said this: So do you want to pick up something from your list (that you presumably spent some time researching based on some kind of lens that you were looking through) or are you just looking for people to give you a recommendation for "the best"? Other than a Glock, of course. Should be an interesting thread...
  7. Thanks for sharing. Sorry to hear it was less than ideal. I have some "easy" AR work for someone to do so this kind of feedback is helpful to me.
  8. I think bullpup shotguns are kind of a niche thing, so I'm not sure how big of a list you're going to find. Up to a few years ago your choices would have been limited to the KSG, DP12, and UTS15. They kind of kicked off the bullpup shotgun resurgence and have lots of rounds through them (along with corresponding fixes and upgrades). Now there are a ton of off-brand options available, but I haven't heard anyone say anything really positive about them. KSG's are out there so if you like them then call around a bit and you should be able to grab one.
  9. I'll take the slugs/buckshot for $30 I live near Wayne. EDIT: Just saw that you double-posted and CaptainSlow already replied to your other thread. He's first in line so I'll be backup in case that doesn't work out.
  10. https://imgur.com/ That's the site I use for free image uploads...
  11. Order from Amazon and you'll get it tomorrow: https://www.amazon.com/Shooters-Choice-Shotgun-Sectional-System/dp/B07N7XRM1Z/ref=nav_custrec_signin?dchild=1&keywords=gun%2Bcleaning%2Bkit&qid=1620396773&sr=8-10&th=1&psc=1 There are tons of Youtube videos that detail the takedown/cleaning process, so watch a few and go with one you like:
  12. If you're in a hurry then you picked the wrong time to try to make a budget build. Everything AR related is in high demand, so the great deals on stripped uppers and lowers, barrels, BCG, etc, etc just aren't happening anymore. With that said, if you're not in a need to build NOW, it's still possible to pick things up here and there at good (not great) prices. Check in with Aero Precision and PSA on a regular basis to see what their stock looks like. Some of their blemished deals still pop up so you might get lucky. Check Gunbroker and the other online sites for barrels, rails, etc. For miscellaneous parts I had good success with aimsurplus.com. They even had a shipment of BCG's recently so I was able to get one before they sold out. The BEST source for parts IMO is forums. Keep checking the Classified here and other gun sites for people getting rid of the odds and ends from their reloading rooms. This process could take several months (or more), but with ammo prices being what they are it's not like you'll be doing a lot of shooting any time soon.
  13. I just saw that posted on another forum. HOLY CRAP!!! I enjoy watching his videos so I'm glad his father was there that day to help save his life. I like the idea of the SERBU as a low-cost alternative to other 50BMG's out there, but I'm not sure how comfortable I'd be running "hot" rounds or rounds of unknown origin/stability through one. Reloading my own ammo gave me an appreciation for how big of a difference a few grains of powder can make to a rifle round, and the biggest caliber I load is .308!!!! Hope he makes as full a recovery as possible and continues his channel.
  14. We all could have stopped reading there. Do it. I practically started my career at that age, so you're in the PERFECT position IMO. You properly identified that the restaurant/culinary industry is BRUTAL to family/home life. Those 60 hour weeks NEVER change. Get out now while you can.
  15. I'm neither angry, nor defensive. That you pretend to see either in my comments leads me to believe you're just trolling for reaction. I was simply pointing out a common theme on this internet forum where the grizzled "regulars" seem to sprinkle negativity and contrarianism in just about every thread. This is an internet forum, so I don't invest any emotion or let the trolling and/or negativity impact me at all. I'm on a conference call right now and this is merely a diversion on a working weekend.
  16. You can't discern the difference in the technology demonstrated in the original video and the technology demonstrated in the video you just linked? I bet you can, but you're one of those "have to be right" kind of guys too. Or you're just trolling...
  17. Interesting statement. It's incorrect, but it shows that you're one of those guys that needs to "be right", so I'll take what you say with a grain of salt. The technology demonstrated in the video was created by a guy named Richard Browning in 2016. He went on to found a company called Gravity Industries in March 2017 to expand on his initial vision and take his prototypes to the next level. So he went from proof of concept stuff in 2016 to full prototypes being tested in the field in 2021. Maybe not "decades away from being usable" after all??
  18. You guys are funny. No shit that it's not ready for deployment right now. It's brand-new technology that's barely out of Beta testing!!!! They test it in scenarios like that to assess the viability (or not) of using it in real-world applications and then update future releases accordingly. The world would still be using rotary phones if it was up to you people...
  19. Do you plan on lining in NYC for a long time? If yes, then sell the guns. It will end up costing you a lot of money and hassle with a gun sitting service and they'll be useless to you for their intended purpose. It would be like paying to store a bunch of great snowmobiles that you'll never use. If you ever move out of NYC you can buy more guns. If you're only planning to live in the city for a short time then look for a storage place...
  20. I'll trade 1000 Large pistol for 1000 small rifle. I live off 287 in Wayne.
  21. Sorry about that! I MEANT to say have you tried shooting right handed (in my mid I was thinking "opposite" which to me is left, but for you left is primary). You'd be training your entire body to do things differently, so it may help you to compensate for the issue in the shoulder.

    Ruger Mini-14

I think finding a reasonably priced one will be a challenge. Pre-covid you find them new for around $700, but now they're over $1000 IF you find them.
