VCDL Lobby Day - 01/20/20 Richmond VA
dilbert1967 replied to DirtyDigz's topic in Legislative Alerts and Rallies
Other than ensuring you have drinks, snacks, and are dressed warmly, I'm not sure how else to prepare. On VCDL's website, I counted approximately 80 buses departing for Richmond between 2am and 6am Monday morning. Who knows how many are driving individually like myself. I know the "lobbying" will take place in the Elizabeth Warr......I mean the Pocahontas building and the "rally" will take place on the steps of the same building with various speakers lined up. Not sure where the "steps" are in relation to the picture above. I think I'm adding a portable chair to my kit. Should be a great day! -

Northam declared a "state of emergency" and has banned firearms inside the Capitol buildings and the grounds. The only "threat' he could cite was the militia groups who routinely provide security every year during Lobby Day. -

Do you know if there is a spot where everyone is meeting? I will be parking at the "Stadium", about two blocks away, and catching the shuttle over to the rally. -
Nice! Those pictures bring back some great memories!

I am definitely the oddball here with my selection: Beretta Tomcat 3032.

CCW Safe No Longer Available in N.J.
dilbert1967 replied to SJG's topic in Current New Jersey Gun Laws Discussion
So if I have non-resident permits in other states I still can't purchase a CCW SAFE plan. When I first heard about this, I thought it only pertained to NJ CCW permit holders. As far as "murder insurance" goes, clearly Murphy doesn't understand the rule of law. -
It's a nice shotgun. I bought mine over ten years ago. I'm glad not to have a lot of money tied up in a home defense gun.

Nah, this can't be the Governor. His teeth looks better.

August 27 UT/FL CCW Course
dilbert1967 replied to GAPP's topic in Green Academy of Personal Protection
Anyone know if this training group is still around? They have no classes scheduled at any of the ranges in the area. Tried contacting them by e-mail but no luck. Their website does not appear to be up to date with what they have been doing.- 3 replies

Local PD for purchase permits—Why?
dilbert1967 replied to Zeus2112's topic in New Firearms Owners Corner
The short answer to your question is that the NJ statue reads you have to apply at your local PD, unless you don't have a local PD, then you must apply at the nearest state police station/barracks. This subject is covered in several threads on the forum. I think you'll find that, on average, you will get your purchase permits faster through your local PD than applying at a state police barracks. With the new FARS in place, I apply on-line and the local barracks will have my permits in about 3 1/2 months. If everyone applied at their "local" barracks, that number would probably double. -
I had to look this up because I'm no lawyer. " Expungement (also called 'expunction') is a court-ordered process in which the legal record of an arrest or a criminal conviction is 'sealed,' or erased in the eyes of the law. When a conviction is expunged, the process may also be referred to as "setting aside a criminal conviction." So given the above, how were they able to "unseal" the conviction? And under what circumstances can they do it? I know it's expensive process, I'm not sure what was the point to it all. https://criminal.findlaw.com/expungement/expungement-basics.html

Gift or Inherited firearm
dilbert1967 replied to Zeus2112's topic in Firearm Hobby / Sport Discussion
Sounds like a variation of your typical "boating accident". -
At 140 mph., I don't think we have the technology, currently, to prevent someone from getting killed in this type of auto crash. What a shame.

There is. They were the Koch brothers, Charles and his late brother David. They donated to libertarian and conservative causes in the past, mostly climate control. They also donated heavily to the Heritage Foundation, the Cato Institute, and like-minded think tanks. Charles is continuing the legacy. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Koch_family But they are clearly outspent by the likes of George Soros, Mike Bloomberg, and Tom Steyer.

I voted last week via absentee ballot because I knew I'd be in Texas all this week.

Tried it this afternoon. Prepared the batter explicitly as per the recipe. Total cooking time was supposed to be 90 minutes or when the center sets. Three hours later, with the center finally done, the outer portion was over done. The bread was moist, though, I'll give them that. There must be a particular model Rival Crockpot they used that cooks more evenly.

Splitting 5 cords of wood a year, with an ax, will get you into really good physical shape.
