I realize it's a game. Can you imagine what would happen here in the US if a video game was released that showed Russians walking through Newark Airport, slaughtering men, women and children? The company that made the video game would probably be sued out of business or there'd be congressional hearings or perhaps worse. Russia banning the game seems like a fairly reasonable thing to do.

This happens all the time with games (whenever a country finds the material distasteful). And like every time, in this case, people in Russia will still get their hands on copies if they really want the game.

I completely understand your point, I don't want gov't involved in my life at all. Politicians, like Hillary Clinton will score political points by any means necessary. She has used "violent video games" before. Every time it's a slow news week, she trots that one out.

 

I can absolutely guaranteed you that a video game allowing you to participate in a terror attack on any current landmark in the USA on a mass scale will result in the makers getting dragged in front of a congressional witch hunt with queen inquisitor herself Hillary presiding.

Honestly, I think you're blowing it out of proportions. If this was the case, why isn't every movie that shows some major US city getting wiped out... or a movie that delves into the corruptness and immorality of our government dragged out and questioned? There are more then I could think of that fit this description.

There are more then I could think of that fit this description.

 

Because Video game makers are easy targets that don't fight back. Movie houses also donate liberally to liberals. Politicians don't like to shit on their patrons.

 

Remember "Going Postal" about 10 years ago? Or perhaps "Chiller" 25 years ago? Custer's revenge, raping an Indian? There was a game where you abduct and kill women not so long ago. There have been more and they come around every few years. They get headlines, generate outrage, earn lawyers tons of money and drag some poor schmucks in front of congress to answer questions. A hyper realistic depiction of a terrorist attack on a US airport will not be immune.

I don't think its actually not even ultranationalists. Its Russian ultranationalists-turned-terrorist for the highest bidder. Its apparent the ultranationalists won the majority of support in Russia in the sequel (the unveiling of the Zakhaev-martyr statue in the beginning). Regardless, will parts of MW3 take place in Russia? The Rangers at the end of their mission asked (in sarcastic tone) if they were headed to Moscow next (similar to the sentiment of US troops asking if they were headed to Berlin during WWII). Now that would stir up some controversy!... The Kremlin under fire by 130s and M1's... Vladivostok under siege by task force specialists. I doubt it though. I suppose we could always go after those pesky North Koreans instead (where else in the world is Makarov going to go at this point?)
