whats your price range? Some of these revolvers can get a little pricey.

 

Not really sure. If a good deal comes around (like the 686 that was in the marketplace that I should have jumped on! ). Maybe around $500 used or new.

You could get something decent for 500. I am always seeing deals on gun broker and even budsgunshop.com has some nice used revolvers.

Yeah that's true. Buds actually has a deal for a used Smith and Wesson for 274. So by time you get it and pay all the fees and NICS it should still be under 350.

Yes that was me, I spend my life on these boards it was about time I finally came across a good deal. Tomorrow I will be reunited with it, supposedly its super duper clean now too

You can't go wrong with a Rugar GP100 for the price. I have one and it's an excellent shooter. Check one out.

GP100 Hands down. The 686 ...just maybe more "refined" as some people say. Get it in the 6" barrel if you plan on hunting. Its built like a tank.

I went looking for my first revolver and it came down to GP100 or 686. Either one would have been a fine choice, but after handling both I went with the Smith in 4". These guys keep their value and I did appreciate the more sculpted appearance. Darn thing is so accurate makes me look like I know how to shoot!

 

Indeed though, this being my first revolver I do find it a PITA to clean. 1 long tube and 6 small tubes to scrub. Yeesh.

For a revolver I would get the s&w 442 airwieght its hammerless and fits in your pocket no problem
