vladtepes 1,060 Posted September 25, 2010 What are your thoughts on the foam on the ACE stock? I've never dealt with it personally, but it seems like it eventually becomes a sore issue for a lot of people. ETA: I forgot to say that its looking really good . Must be getting antsy for that WOA upper to come in. It got chewed up a little on mine so I took it off and wrapped it in paracord instead.. the paracord was comfortable and low enough that it didnt get chewed up.. bbk 188 Posted September 25, 2010 That's right, Ray, I did experience it-- and the foam on the stock was pretty comfortable. As vlad pointed out, my thought on the long term is that it would get torn up, but since its pretty cheap I guess it wouldn't be an issue.

bbk 188 Posted September 30, 2010 Looks really good. What optics are/will/have you being put on top? As for the guess, I'm going to go with a flat 9lbs. ETA: Ha, my fast replies aren't really fast at all. So, I'll give it to whoever else was closer.
Maksim 1,504 Posted September 30, 2010 For now, slapped on a Burris 3-9x40 I had laying around with some rings. want to see how much of a tack driver the rifle is. After that, ultimately, i would love to see an elcan on it. hehe. or an aimpoint with a magnifier.

Maksim 1,504 Posted September 30, 2010 Impressions on the white oak.... all great from the get go.... Packaging was tough enough to open that could not open at the ups office, had to get home. lol. came oiled and protected. fit and finish are great. great tolerances everywhere, no rough edges. barrel came with a muzzle cover for shipment. Great crown. gas block looks good and well built. Hoping to take it out on Sunday.... to dial it in.
Shane45 807 Posted September 30, 2010 SN4 1.5X6 with C2 Ret would be the heat on that thing!
bbk 188 Posted September 30, 2010 What ammo/load are you planning on putting through it to test it out? I haven't tried to prove my rifle is a tack-driver, and haven't done any bench-rest shooting-- so, its beyond me-- but I was curious. As for the packaging being tough-- at least you know no one else got to it . I was so worried when I got my upper because it had a huge 'BCM' on the outside of the box (name of the manufacturer), but no issues there either. Maksim 1,504 Posted September 30, 2010 I have about 10 boxes of 223 PMC left... and a ton of brass.... I really dont like to load 223, but will play with some. 69grain smk loads. WOA told me to expect .5 moa, with some getting as low as .3 to .
vjf915 456 Posted September 30, 2010 Freakin sweet....I definitely want to build an AR next, and would have started too! But you know the story :icon_neutral: Anyway, definitely excited to see how it turns out at the range.

tbtrout 141 Posted September 30, 2010 Looks good maks. you will need to stick with the heavier bullets for best accuracy.
Maksim 1,504 Posted September 30, 2010 right at 1.1k not including glass that I already have... $613 for the upper. $100 for Lower $315 for Lower parts kit, trigger, a2 tube/kit $75 for stock.
vjf915 456 Posted September 30, 2010 That is REALLY not that bad of a price at all, especially for what you got. This is why I am interested in building one, rather than buying one.
Maksim 1,504 Posted September 30, 2010 White Oak makes some of the best uppers and very well priced. The place I didnt cheap out on, and glad I didnt, was the lower and accessories... could of done it alot cheaper... but extremely happy with how it turned out.
