look I just want to explain my position to you.. so you don't get it all twisted....

YOU posted YOUR opinion..

this being America.. I disagreed with you and posted MY opinion..

if you don't want people to disagree with you.. it is best you avoid the internet altogether..

YOU posted you did not like cameras at a private range..

I posted that if you don't like the rules there.. then get out.. it is not your range.. you are using the facilities that belong to someone else..

this IS America.. a place where a private business owner should be able to do as he pleases.. guess what.. you are free as well.. don't like his rules.. pick up your toys and go play somewhere else.. our "whining" was initiated by YOUR whining.. you seem to want all the freedom in the world.. irregardless of how it impacts others.. you acknowledge YOU should have freedom.. but ignore the freedom a private business owner should expect..

do you get what im saying?

if not.. I will simply agree to disagree..

are you actually reading my posts, I been saying from page one that they have a right to film me. you are starting to beat that dead horse.

see here is the thing , I stated my opinion and from your very first post , instead of an intelligent reply , you started with condescending BS , you are the only one that brought up "whining" , I brought up a legitimate concern .

Now I get why you guys get fissy with CR... members dont have an actual vote in the matters. Are the BOD meetings public?

I do wonder what the vote would be if it was up to the general membership.

Can the members vote to change the form of governance at CR?

Mark I would be all for this except like everything else, I doubt it would ever get off the ground / make head way with those retards over at CR.

I guess thing have changed at CR in the last 22-odd years..last time I was a member there, they at least had Open Board meetings every month. CJ does that now, the meeting dates are posted, any member can attend, and the newsletter lets members know of any big issues on the table, so they can show up... ANY expenditures are brought to the membership for approval, and we've spent a metric Butt-ton of money over the past 5 years on the facilities, so yeah i don't have an issue with the camera setups to see if anyone is messing with it like I said.

How often would you say your read Human Events? When's the last time you FWDed a chain e-mail about the Marine from Texas? Do you own more gold coins than teeth? Big on the latest news about George Soros's latest conspiracy to destroy America?

Luke Skywalker thinks you're not a real conservative Ray.

I figured it was something like that. And I should've included you in my first post as well since your probably as far right as me.

We're so starboard we need another boat Ray. ;)

I love how people keep telling us to run a "middle of the road" guy - like that worked last time, or the time before, or in 76... Run hard right and if s/he loses then I'll shut up but until then, I only need an oar on the right side of the boat! :thsmiley_deadhorse:

HAAHAHAH open meeting you crack me up. I think there is a once a year general meeting otherwise it's closed door GTFO meetings. We have no say on what money is spent on or anything else. And no we can't change a god damn thing at CR. The only way to change it, is to vote the current board out, but that process will take 20 flipping years.

So I solved my own problems with CR, it's called moving out of this state, and it solves a bunch of my OTHER problems as well.

I dont think anyone would have a problem with the bod if they improved the range a bit. they have so much extra money blah blah blah. Them use it to put a cover over the silhouette range. Or permanently mount clay throwers at the shotgun range as they already have them. Just something to make improvements that the members will appreciate.i think mal has agood idea in a member union or something. If everyone sticks together with it, it could work might not be easy but possible.

A union wouldn't really help. Since the around the time our current president. was elected once a month at sign up Sunday they probably have a minimum 50 new members sign up. that's a conservative estimate as some times there are many more. they got money coming in hand over fist. a few disgruntled members wouldn't mean crap to them

I agree it won't be easy. But I think with the right minds behind it and if we can get everyone to stick together or the bulk we can make a difference. Get new members to join. Get members at the rangeto join this"union". With decent man power and god minds we can voice or opinions.

According to the website a general meeting is scheduled for 10/15 , no time or location is listed , however their is a name and phone number listed.

My wife and I are members of Cherry Ridge. We received a ballot in the mail about a month ago. It included information about the annual meeting. This meeting starts at 3:30 and is free. The event will be held at the Gran Centurions, 440 Madison Hill Road, Clark, NJ 07066 this Saturday October 15th 2011. There is a FNRA dinner afterwards that costs $50 per person, but you do NOT have to attend the dinner.

IIRC The regular membership meetings are open to members. You need to contact them and let them know you would like to be notified and want to attend. I have never been to any meetings so my info may not be correct.

Union isn't going to do jack, sorry. You know how many people go there? How many people coming in? And how most of them don't care jack ****. Sorry.

Maybe in crazy buy I think this type of attitude is why a union won't work. Everyone needs to be on the same page and work together. we would need to go to new member orientations to get them to join. I know this is all easier said than done. But if we haver the right attitude about it I think we can make changes. They might not need to listen to a union either. But if that many members petition together to get something done they might do it to shut them up. Again maybe im crazy but I think whoever came up with the union idea had a good idea that could possibly, just possibly work.

Now let's examine this like the adults we are.

The meeting is held in Clark NJ - not even centrally located if we consider that ANJRPC is a statewide organization.

The meeting is free. Excellent - should it be any other way?

The meeting is at 3:30pm. On a Saturday. OK.

The ANJRPC is a state wide organization. It just happens to own a range in North Jersey

And it just so happens that 90% of their members are also range members who also happen to live in North NJ. Don't kid yourself.

Folks I have read this thread in it's entirety...............headache as posted earlier is an understatement. :icon_mrgreen:

Cameras for better or worse are hear for the LONG HAUL and will ONLY get smarter....think networked....

To cover a few items...and to possibly alleviate some fears that may have or have not been mentioned.

1) Facial recognition is a VERY pricey analytic and it is NOT perfected as yet, but it works in some VERY select areas at a VERY high price point. The same can be said with License plate but that DOES work and at a lower price point

2) Theoretically you can HAVE unlimited storage, but again at a VERY high price point i.e. Casino's, Airports etc...think RAID array and multiple arrays of same....my guess is CR does NOT have that

3) My guess is that this is a DVR and it is a FIFO machine, best estimate is that MAXIMUM they have thirty days storage then the system re-writes over itself. HOWEVER, the storage can be dumped to DVD or stored on another HDD depending on how it is setup. Further my guess that given the distances at the range they either did wireless or UTP cable...

4) Cameras are in more locations that you can imagine from the Mom and Pop store to the City street, and NOTHING you are going to do is going to change it, it is the ENGLISH model and NY is becoming London. System wide analytics is ALSO getting VERY smart and there are interesting things on the horizon.

As a person who engages in this for a living (primary occupation) I am in a quandary as to the ethical and moral cost of the surveillance. That being said I am dead set against having overt monitoring in public areas that are not privately controlled....i.e city streets. It is and will be possible in the near future that your drivers license picture can be added to a database to be used for facial recognition analytics unilaterally on the public sector camera system. If it is not done already.....

However, that being said I have NO problem with a private organization providing this archival surveillance to protect life and property. Cases have been made and it is a two edged sword and both sides have merit. However, the positive outweighs the negative. The arguement has been made that a DA will utilize the footage to slam a shooter in a HD shoot...is it possible...sure anything is possible. unlikely but possible. Conversely the archival footage can be used to PROTECT to club AND the range in a negligent shooting situation or accident of some sort. All it takes is *ONE* large lawsuit or *ONE* unsubstantiated situation and the range can be targeted and closed.

Hence my statement that the benefit of the cameras at the range are a plus to me and NOT a minus....

As far as getting them removed? IMO that is NOT going to happen...there is an investment there of at LEAST 25-30K to do those cameras as a conservative estimate.....they are not going to now take them down because a few members complain...NOT going to happen.

Nick I think the argument its not only the cameras at this point. I have nothing against the cameras as its their property and if I want to shoot there I will deal with that. I think a union could help in other aspects such as range improvements that members will enjoy. Thats the reason I like the union idea. To help make improvements for the members and for the bod to know what the members want.
