Jersey City Crime is Down due to Gun Control

Recommended Posts

In Jersey City, Mayor Rub-A-Dub says that basically crime is down due to NJ's One Gun a Month Law, which he takes credit for, fudged FBI stats, and the City's Cash for Clunkers program.

What a bum.

If anything, crime is up due to the floundering economy and the increase in the number of people that believe that life is fair and that everyone owes them something.

Let him walk around the city without his police escort and I bet he will meet up with lots of thugs that were already convicted and back out on the street because our elite and unscrupulous attorneys and politicians and professors that wouldn't want to infringe on their rights as criminals, illegal gun possessors, and felony substance abusers (especially while making a buck), and besides those underprivileged animals cannot be held accountable for their actions (I meant the thugs on the street NOT the attorneys or the undocumented socialist, spendthrift politicians).

I wonder if the Mayors Against Honest Citizen Mayhem have been tracking those illegal guns used in these occupy protest crimes to their alleged Justice Department roots?

Crime is down in Jersey City? It must have been really bad there cause it's really bad now. Maybe it's just that I'm sourcing from a different news source but I'm hearing about a lot of crime in JC and Hoboken and less in Trenton and Camden. Maybe crime in Trenton and Camden is too commonplace to be newsworthy anymore.

Correlation does not imply causation.

Moreover, our Public Safety Center is also thehome of our CCTV operation, which helps us to both spot dangerous situations before a crime occurs and to successfully investigate and apprehend the perpetrators of crimes.CCTV cameras have been a great tool for law enforcement.

The quote above just seems too much like a line out of a Orwell novel for my liking. And it's not the only quote in the report that feels that way.

I just don't get the causal link--is he trying to implly that the guns that are not being bought due to "one gun per month" would have been used for criminal activity?

Even if crime is down, he does not show any causal connection to the one-gun-a-month law--and you know he would if there was one.

Excellent point. Anyway, according to these statistics violent crime is projected to go up. http://www.cityrating.com/crime-statistics/new-jersey/jersey-city.html

In the video below Jersey City Mayor states that 85% of guns used in Jersey City crimes come from out of state. How does 1 gun a month prevent this?

Just this past weekend in Fort Lee a man used his car to kill his girlfriend running her over multiple times. Where are all of the anti car people?

One common theme among anti gunners is they are trying to treat the symptom (guns) and not the disease (criminals).

There are no anti car people. The anti gun people (trust me, I am dating one) will tell you they don't like guns because guns were designed to kill people.

Cars weren't. So they think intent matters more then actuality. Strange way to go thru life I imagine.

But guns are designed to protect people....cars aren't.

He's implying that crime is down because of common sense gun control laws that 'he' initiated.

But in a city with around 250,000 people, and a known 300,000 registered guns, shootings are around 22 per year.
