Another mass shooting this time in Wisconsin

Recommended Posts

How come it seems every time a terrible crime happens it is now called 'terrorism'? I mean, I am not saying this case isn't, it may be, I don't have all the info, but still, it seems odd. Per the US code defining domestic terrorism

appear to be intended—

(i) to intimidate or coerce a civilian population;

(ii) to influence the policy of a government by intimidation or coercion; or

(iii) to affect the conduct of a government by mass destruction, assassination, or kidnapping;

Was he trying to intimindate/coerce people? Seems more like he was just trying to kill them.

Influence government policy? Maybe if it turns out he did so because of a political/governmental issue, then I suppose it would be.

Affect the conduct of a government? Not sure what conduct he is affecting. If he does affect the conduct, and though unintentionally, does that still qualify?

I guess I'm just confused. On one had it seems like he had an issue with Sikhism, so it could be considered that he was terrorizing Sikhs, but even that doesn't fit the definition of domestic terrorism as defined in the code? I don't know, maybe it does.

Terrible incident. WTF is wrong with people?!?!

I guess that is sensationalism but it's not the media; it's the police that are calling it domestic terrorism.

I am usually never shocked by the hypocrisy and stupidity of Officialdom, but even I was surprised at how quickly they classified this as a terror attack. Funny that they had trouble doing the same for the Ft. Hood massacre. That required some serious investigation. I am fairly certain that the official designation of that true act of terror still stands as "workplace violence".

I'm gonna get a bunch of flack for this, but I've shot with enough cops and have witnessed them shooting that their skill level is no where near the average shooter on this forum.

From what I've seen, LEO's tend to book end the spectrum. I've shot alongside officers that aren't really "into" shooting and were just there to get ready for a qualification or something like that, and their lack of skills was genuninely alarming.

I've also meet officers who were very into shooting and sign up for any & all supplementary training opportunties they can get through their jobs, in addition to doing a lot of practice & recreational shooting on their own time. Officers in this group have been among the most impressive shooters I've ever seen. Really remarkable speed, efficiency & accuracy.

Sorry, /tangent.

Another sad situation, D bags like these last two shooters have the libs crawling out of the woodwork. To the LEO who got shot 9 times I wish you a speedy recovery, The only good to come out of this is the D bag shooter is dead...

Observant Sikhs do not cut their hair and wear it up in a turban. Some people mistakenly believe Sikhs who are Indians from India to be Muslim... which they are not.

This very well could be a misdirected hate crime. In any case, I think we are in for a shit storm of gun control law attempts.

Recipe for disaster = redneck Army vet discharged for undisclosed reasons + runs into financial troubles and defaults on his Wells Fargo mortgage + has links to white supremacist groups.

Some pics the media has dug up already -

Blame it on the mortgage meltdown? Domestic terror intent? I'll bet he had no clue what a Sikh is.

Not sure what the handgun laws are like in Wisconsin, but wouldn't involvement with these groups preclude him getting a P2P?

How is that possible when it was reported that in the military his role was to identify and formulate possible applications for psychological warfare? Not exactly a task awarded to some uneducated redneck.....is it?

Unless the military was applying some sort of twisted logic and he was the poster child for their grand experiment.

There is no P2P required in Wisconsin. There IS a 48 hour waiting period between the purchase/POS NICS Check and actual transfer.

Open Carry is legal without a permit (though, some local jurisdictions considerit 'disturbing the peace')

Concealed Carry Permits are "Shall-Issue"

No one said he was uneducated. Most sociopaths are pretty intelligent.

Was Major Nidal Malik Hasan another example of an Army experiment gone wrong?

You are absolutely correct......I made an erroneous assumption. But the question of him not knowing what a Sikh was is puzzling considering his Military Career.

Chances are his knowledge of diverse groups was fueled more by his white supremacist leanings than his military training. Or was a combination of both. We'll never know the answer, he sleeps with the fishes.

Having been involved in a shooting where 5 other officers were shot i can tell you no matter how skillef you may think you are shooting at inanimate cardboard targets that arent moving or shooting back, until that moment comes when it is decided whether you go home or not..NO ONE knows how they will react..hits at the range do not equal hits in a real fight..Yes training does give someone a base to build on..but life saving instinct is unpredictable..

I couldn't agree more. On many occasions I have seen the those who o a lot of talking freeze up. You don't know what you are made of until the time comes. Just like all the people who say ccw will stop a lot of crimes. People hesitate out of fear. Not everybody will act just because they have a gun on them. Before you all flame me I am still in favor of ccw it's just not the answer a lot of people think

Yes, people may freeze up. And so will LEO's. Like JRfly3006 said you don't know until it is forced upon you.

BUT having the ability to do absolutely nothing but run and hide is not a real option.

It isn't really known if he made a mistake or not. That is just the current narrative on the situation. It is entirely possible that a white supremacist would want to kill sikhs just because they were non-whites.

Once they said white supremacist the idea that he mistook one for another when he likley hated all should be reconsidered

Fox was saying that as a active duty sergeant at Ft Bragg, he was busted for being drunk on duty, demoted to specialist, and ?blacklisted? so he couldn't re-up.

http://www.foxnews.c...oundtrack-hate/

Page, who served in the military for six years but was never stationed overseas, was a psychological operations specialist and Hawk Missile System repairman. He was awarded the Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Army Good Conduct award, the National Defense Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal and Parachutist Badge. While stationed at Fort Bragg, N.C., in 1998, he was disciplined for being drunk on duty and busted down from sergeant to specialist, sources told Reuters. He was not eligible to re-enlist, the sources said.

Oh and that DBAG, Blooming idiot is already at it.
