Urban Grunt 44 Posted September 3, 2012 Depends on what your going to use it for, target,hunting,plinking,long/short distance, open sights/scoped CZ 452/453 are great bolt action rifles
PeteF 1,044 Posted September 3, 2012 I've got a 455 American and like it a lot. Very accurate, looks great and is a lot of fun to shoot.
dajonga 397 Posted September 4, 2012 Don't know what your budget is, but the Marlin XT22 I bought in July is very accurate and is all I could ask from a $180 gun. Uses the same inexpensive mags as the Marlin 795.
emptyshell 0 Posted September 4, 2012 +1 on the 455. I love mine, absolute joy to shoot. Acurate as hell.
Pizza Bob 1,488 Posted September 4, 2012 Check out lunker's 452 in .17HM2 in the marketplace
302w 83 Posted September 6, 2012 I'm a big fan of Henry rifles myself. It is a lever action, but more fun than a bolt and just as effective IMHO.
NJKen 23 Posted September 13, 2012 My favorite 22 is my ancient Montgomery Ward Field and stream bolt action. I think it was made in the 30's. Its the most accurate 22 I own. I know they can be had for cheap on gunbroker.com. Ken
Underdog 1,593 Posted September 14, 2012 You can't miss with a Ruger 77/22. A used one in good shape would be very nice. On a budget, the Savage Mark II is pretty nice.
Genewarper111 18 Posted September 22, 2012 +1 for the Savage Mk II. Great rifle. Lovely heavy barrel. Gorgeous trigger. I have a Nikon 22 scope on mine and it's a perfect pair. Good luck with whichever you choose and don't underestimate choosing ammo carefully to get the best out of it. The bulk 500 boxes are ok, but CCI, Federal and Winchester all make a range of higher velocity cartridges that are worth trying and may show their worth at 50 or 75 yards. Oh and remember to SHOOT it.... A LOT!! Congrats on the new gun G

bry@n 195 Posted October 25, 2012 I liked my Savage MkII a lot. I only sold it as it was sitting unused and taking up valuable safe space Though about buying it again but eh.....

I have a Remington model 5 that is very accurate. My only issue with it is the 5 round mag. The CZs are great rifles too, my only issue with them is they seem to lack a little finishing. They are very accurate, reliable rifles and I wouldn't hesitate to own one.
MedicYeti 96 Posted November 17, 2012 There are tons of options. CZ makes a good gun. I have a Marlin 795 that is a great shooter. I'd avoid the Romanian 1969 Trainer Rifles, but that is based on personal bias. Good luck.
dajonga 397 Posted November 18, 2012 " What brand of ammo do you use? Is this gun picky about what you run through it? " I have used cci bulk, federal bulk, cci quiets & even the dreaded golden bullet without fail. The synthetic stock feels a little cheap. I should have waited for the wood stock. I If you are ever in Ocean Co, lemme know and we can go shoot it and my other .22 rifles, all marlins...795, 880 & 989m2.
