this_is_nascar 162 Posted September 7, 2012 My next purchase will be a .223 rifle. I don't think Ihave a preference between semi, bolt or lever at this point in time. I would like it to be something modern and readily available. In addition, any particular brand/type of ammo for general shooting?
alowerlevel 77 Posted September 7, 2012 I would say build or buy an AR
RecessedFilter 222 Posted September 7, 2012 Just wondering, why a .223 versus many other rifle calibers?
lunker 274 Posted September 7, 2012 A Saiga in 223 will eat ANYTHING you feed it and keep rolling along. And it is more accurate than folks give it credit for.
BlueLineFish 615 Posted September 7, 2012 Get an AR and a saiga.
Dan 177 Posted September 7, 2012 AR... tons of options, shapes, sizes... everything from plinker to precision is available. And it was designed to eat .223 to boot!
Lalo 13 Posted September 7, 2012 Get an AR. I got an S&W M&P-15 and absolutely love it. If you have interest, time and are somewhat handy, build one yourself. I think my next rifle before I build an AR from scratch is going to be a bolt action in .223.
reloaderguy 30 Posted September 7, 2012 The most bang for the buck is hands down Rock River!
9X19 125 Posted September 8, 2012 Mini 14. Cool little rifle. And yes you can make them pretty darn accurate.
Rifleman1 32 Posted September 8, 2012 I'd also recommend a S&W M&P15. Most bang for the buck unless you are building one yourself.
KramD52 0 Posted September 8, 2012 I have both an AR (Windham) and a Mini 14 and love both of them equally. The style of rifle you get will mostly be dictated by what type of shooting you'll be doing. As for ammo, I've only used PMC ammo and have no complaints whatsoever. The PMC bronze .223 55gr fmj shoots pretty clean and is brass cased. Prices are pretty good too.
HavocMan 13 Posted September 8, 2012 Bravo Company or Colt AR.

this_is_nascar 162 Posted September 11, 2012 I haven't. Still in the research phase.
DbleTrouble 8 Posted September 11, 2012 My vote is for the AR
BlueLineFish 615 Posted September 23, 2012 I suggest getting an AR, a saiga and a mini-14. Why make tough choices
Clintoon Eastwood 2 Posted September 23, 2012 Mini 14 looks awesome, that's just me saying that because I already built and finished my ar
TK421 2 Posted September 23, 2012 The AR is indeed the way to go, the best part is you can start with a relatively cheap and simple M4 for plinking yet build up additional uppers to support different uses. ARs are like cats and Dachshunds, you can't have just one!
Teky0101 6 Posted September 26, 2012 I have a saiga 223 does anyone know if it can shoot 556?
