I know i've posted this before, but as of today - 625 is done.

 

Found me a titanium cylinder... FINNALLY, after about 6 months of looking.

 

Two Tone Trudy, is now Tri-Tone Trudy!

 

Feels good, balances nice with the Titanium cylinder, and lost a good bit of weight.

Hmm, maybe pizza bob will clarify, But I dont think that's an actual model 1989.

 

Looks to me somebody put a 5" barrel on a newer frame. 

 

Lock on side , MIM trigger, MIM hammer... 

 

What is the dash number of the gun ? " 625 - ? "

I think that they used that designation for a number of years on the 625's - not just for those made/released in 1989. Just as the "Model of 1955" was used on all Model 25's regardless of year of manufacture. The one pictured would have to be a Model 625-8, at a minimum, as that was the engineering change that included the IL. That engineering change occurred in 2001.

 

Model nomenclature for the 625 series is all over the board and even has the experts (Supica & Nahas) confused. The 625 was introduced as a 625-2 - there were no 625's or 625-1's. Even though the early ones were rollmarked "Model of 1988" they were released in March of 1989. At some point, even though they remained 625-2's, the barrel marking changed to "Model of 1989" and it was laser etched, as opposed to the actual rollmark of the "Model of 1988" guns.

 

The model 25 & 625 are among the most confusing for the reasons given above, plus the model designation was used for both .45 ACP and .45 Colt.

you are right nickel. I thought the 5 was for the 5" barrel

BLF the thing that clued me in to you had a Model 10 not a 64 was the barrel length. The longest barrel S&W made the 64 was 4". Pencil barrel the firsr year (1972) and heavy barrel after that.

 

However to my experience the 5" Model 10 is a rare bird as far as Model 10s go and if that's a factory nickel finish even rarer.

      We never let then inside.  Last re-evaluation was 6-7 years ago, wife politely told him that he was welcome to look around the property and he could look in the windows. He saw two white resin chairs in the basement and told her that this constituted a finished basement. And everything in the basement is bare concrete/ cinder block, and mechanical systems. Nothing finished about it. Ultimately he relented and I'm sure that was a ploy to coerce us to allow him in

      The  12-1 compression ratio L88 is long gone. This is GM's updated version. it might be  pump gas 10-1 engine The L88 was a aluminum head  cast iron block engine with a nasty solid lifter cam. the  ZL1 was a all aluminum  12 or 13-1 compression ratio engine with the best forged internal parts at the time and had a even nastier solid lifter cam

      I like my regular carry holster.  OWB leather with belt slots.  I've been carrying for over a year and it was comfortable and I hardly even noticed it.  I carry (usually) a Ruger LCP .380 - light, convenient, tiny. But...today I ended up taking it off an leaving it home after a few hours. I cut down a big maple tree a few days ago and I spent 3/4 of today loading and unloading firewood into the back of my truck and a trailer.  It was a warm day, I was dirty, tired, sweaty, and my holster was rubbing against my side.  The leather and exposed metal snap was no longer comfortable. I'm thinking about adding a layer of something to that part of the holster to soften the contact.  Anything insulating will make it worse.  I don't want a sweaty, hotter holster against my skin.  I'm imagining something thin, breathable, that won't absorb sweat, and softer than leather, metal snaps, and rivets.   But I have no idea what would work. I'm hoping somebody else has already figured this out and I can just do what they did. Any suggestions appreciated.

      Check the primers on the ammo you didn't shoot yet. Are they fully seated? If the primer is not just below flush with the back of the case, the first hit can seat it better then the second hit ignites it.
