Iphone Pissing me off

Recommended Posts

Well let me preface that i had an android and like the iphone hands down over it, there is just one flaw in the iphone and frankly im pretty shocked that there is not a huge outcry over it, hence apple never fixed it. the problem is what ever your in middle of doing ie. texing facebook, navigation, videoing, if a call comes in, the call takes up the whole screen and doesn't let you continue until you address the call this is a major problem when it comes to taking videos because an incoming call will stop the video in the middle even if you press decline. this is a big problem potentially if videoing legal stuff ie a crime being committed traffic stops etc.. i know there's air plane mode and do not disturb mode but in real life you never remember to use it. i jail broke my phone and found an app called callbar that does just that, puts a tiny incoming call bar on top of the screen, only thing is when you use it, it does not show call waiting calls, you hear the beep but cant see who it is, so not much help.

Is anyone else driven mad over this? and how do you deal with it?

I just use the Do Not Disturb feature. Keep it on all day if you want so that only calls from certain people ring through.

I dont think my customers would appreciate if i did that :) if it dont ring i dont eat

I've owned four different Android based phone from different manufacturers. Personally, I will never buy an Android based phone again. I'm a very heavy smartphone user for both work and personal usage and I prefer the iPhone. When Android first came out I hopped it would be the elusive "iPhone Killer" but it never did. I never liked the iPhone until my Droid f**k'ed up my world with calls I couldn't answer because the screen's software wouldn't respond to the touch. Every Android phone since had been glitchy, days with endless forced closed apps, sluggish, sluggish again, and even more sluggish. The software is written for too many manufacturers and each phone has different specs and some components of the platform OS aren't tested to the new hardware so it's impossible to fix everything that's wrong because there are so many people making them. I've had nothing but problems with Android and nothing but happiness withy iPhone. Installing and deleting apps is by far the easiest to do. To delete an app tap and hold Te icon of the program you want gone and presto! It's gone. No more going into settings then applications then manage application then delete application then yes to warning then okay to it being deleted. For iPhone just a tap ON THE APP ICON until it wiggles. Then tap the "x" and it's off your phone b

Everything about the iPhone is easier to use and is so much more stable. Sure, I hate a few things about Apple right now but when I hear the crap about Android phones it makes me fall on love with my iPhone all over again.

As a matter of fact, I used my wife's old Samsung Galaxy S3 today for a game and I had to foreclose it repeatedly. Played the same game on my iPhone 5 and never misses a beat.

Dude ... You need to live outside your phone. I've had an iPhone for like 5 years now and not a single time has the thing you described been even a mild annoyance.

Are you upset that a phone give priority to phone calls? It's a freaking phone.

sorry, have to agree with this..  i use it for calls, texts and maybe the web sometimes..  maybe it doesnt annoy me because i dont really get that many calls..  lol

phones have evolved they are no longer primarily for phone calls, for very few they still are but for most calls are secondary. its not a matter of giving priority to phone calls it can notify you a call is coming in without disrupting what you are doing

Then get a device that isn't a phone. I hate to tell you this but it is called an iPhone, note the PHONE part. You may choose to use it as not a phone, but it is not like it is false advertising or anything, it is right there in the name. And yes, I use my iPhone for things which are not a phone.   Also, I ran mail and activesync servers for a living (among other things) and I can promise you iPhones are the least troublesome devices I have to deal with.

Incoming voice takes priority. If it didn't then ppl will complain "I was on the web and missed a call cause I didn't notice the call coming in" lol

i guess you guys are not getting the point of my post its very pointed and directed  1) does it bother you when you get disrupted & 2) you can be notified a call is coming through and still have the choice to continue what you are doing im not asking about androids or how i should handle my life with my phone or what phones are meant for

1. No

2. If a call comes in while I'm doing something on my phone I go thru my life altering phone usage mental checklist...I can either A. stop what im doing and answer or B. reject the call and continue what I was doing. Both of which take less than 2 seconds to decide lol.

This isn't to difficult. Maybe get a tablet if you don't want to be interrupted with phone calls.

4. Build your own at considerable expense

I know what OP is talking about and it does make perfect sense. Modal dialogs are bad UI/UX design 99% of the time. Phones are not phones anymore, they are mobile computers.

Thee problem lies in the fact that cell phone tech has not kept pace with computer tech, and as such was shoehorned in using low level system calls. There's no other reason a phone call can't pop up a balloon. Currently no phones can do this.

My Android based phone does the same thing. Honestly I wouldn't expect much from Apple. They release updates for software that deletes all your contacts, then refuse to help you unless you pay for "customer care". Personally I'll let the asshat hipsters have their rotten apples.

Agreed, i have an iphone and its really a planner, notebook, web browser, game console, money maker, sports news checker, sports game watcher, mildly facebooker, camera, video recorder, tape recorder, hiking trailer, compass, flash light, and 30 other things, bank teller etc etc etc!!! If all you do with your iphone is call then your not to smart. You dont need to buy a camera and a video recorder your iphone does all that. This isnt 1999 , "your phone is for calling rabble rabble rabble"

Sent from my iphone

Having dealt with cell phones for about 15 years from a business standpoint... I will likely never go away from apple and here is why...

Apple - you get boring stability... Font... Layout... Performance... All determined and controlled by apple... You do it how they want... But the thing is stable as hell....

Android - do it your way... But do it wrong or download the wrong app, and to the phone store you go... With your glitchy mess...

I don't care how customizable droid is... I take the stability of apple and accept the things that don't work exactly how I want them to...

On a side note I've been using ios7 and I think apple is starting to change things up a little... No earth shattering changes... But some things are more intuitive... And it has a nice look to it..
